I decided to make one thread where I'll ask many of my unanswered SEO questions. Some of them might be good, some might be bad, and the rest probably will be retarded(these are my favourite).

First question: Do no follow links count toward link diversity? I mean many of the doc/audio/video shared I believe they are no follow. So it does makes sense that they are, right?

Somebody said that google filters no follow out as they count only the do follow ones.

Second question: high quality vs low quality.

This is something that it bothered me.

If I get a no follow from a niche blog comment using relevant content, is that high or low quality given the fact that the OBL is between 20-50 or even lower?

What does imply quality: reability (how natural it looks in google eyes, hence staying under the radar) or power? Or both?

Third question: how should I distribute anchor text?

As an example, I'll add 60% to my homepage, and 40% should go to the rest of the inner pages. But, if I want to add an exact match anchor, where do you think I should add it?

Cuz if I have 10 articles, then each one will receive 4% of the links, and if my exact match anchor ratio is 5%, then that doesn't even counts for 1 link.

No follow does affect diversity, in a good way.

Anchors: search for any keyword, then check the top sites on ahrefs and copy the anchor distribution. Just base yourself on what's already working.

1. They do count toward diversity. Bullshit that google only counts ********. You would be surprised how powerful can well written press release be for a referral traffic for example, that also helps ranking. Tested. Not to mention backlink and anchor diversity.

2. It's low quality. Anything besides guest posts, PBNs and possibly super web 2.0s is low quality. Good for merely diversity.

3. LSI an exact should go to inner pages, it's more natural. Most of the brand stuff should go to homepage.

A good hint for 3.: What's natural depends on the type of site, a huge shop will have a totally different backlink structure than a blog/magazine, a forum or a local service site. Have a look at the sites Google likes, the top 10 for your main keywords. Check direct competitors backlink profiles, link distribution, anchor ratios. Pay most attention the well ranking sites in the "same league", if you run an ecommerce site, analyzing Amazon or Ebay won't help you. Especially recommendable anchor ratios can differ a lot, there are very spammy niches where relatively high ratios won't trigger a filter or penalty, there are others where you have to be really careful with keyword links.

Ranking really good is often not about "I have better content and more and better links" only, it's about flying under the radar, doing things better than competitiors, but not looking totally different, not crossing lines that make things look suspicious, too good to be true.

Ok another question: what fb likes stand for? I know what they are, but I don't understand where they are going.

Are they targeted to a facebook page which links to that particular site? Do I have to incorporate a snippet of that fb page into my website?

No man. I meant: I saw in the diversity packages social shares and social likes. I know what they mean, and how a social share acts, but I didn't understood the point with likes. Was it only to increase counter of the site's social page?

One guy made a CS only of facebook links, and he actually ranked higher. Where did he pointed them?
