Getting New SEO clients?

Mm very useful thread.

Looking to get into providing services as a cash boost myself

I do a lot of these idea's Here are my results.

networking - With going to different get together and what not. I went to about 3-4 of them and what a waste of damn time and effort. All it was, was people trying to do the same thing as me not as in SEO but pushing their business onto you. I even had one lady that said she needed help with her email marketing. I thought great, Drove across town 45 min drive in rush hour, only to find that she lied to me and than tried to get me to join her MLM type business and said I had to dissolve my business to join hers. I kept my composure instead of just swearing up a storm and walked away,

I gave my phone number to quite a few people at these networking events and needless to say i'm gonna have to change my number soon. I'm constantly getting blown up to join this or join that.

Cold Calling - I'm not good at this at all, I even hired a sales person for those it was a personal friend. Needless to say he basically ripped me off and I got 0 sales from him and spent 4k on his salary. Learned my lesson well with that. Never doing a base salary anymore but a commission based. but anyway he would call around 200-300 business's a day He had a great sales pitch but they already get spammed called by tons of people a day as well.

Referals - This seems to be where it's at. Just like with all business Referrals seems to work the best I'm 8 out of 8 when it comes to referrals I've had 8 Referrals call me and have had 8 people sign up. I try to use an incentive when signing a new client like. "Refer someone to me and i'll give you a huge discount" And that has been working great.

Anyway, this is just some of my experience in this game so far. :) I can't say I hate the bad experiences cause every experience is a lesson learned and knowledge gained.

ya +1 on the referrals.

alot of these other techniques no longer work straight outta the box, they need to be tweaked all to hell and you might get lucky.

There's way to many shady ("working outta my momma's basement") Seo chef's in the kitchen giving the good one's a bad name and leaving the average potential client very wary.

It really comes down to relationships, building trust etc. "Old School style"

branding your self helps somewhat as well,
