Getting more local clients

I have kind of ran into a brick wall for ideas about how to market my company to other companies so I can get them to buy my services for Local SEO and ORM. I have tried 7878's method, but I only got 1 client out of that. It's a good start non the less, but I would like more than that of course.

I'm just wondering if anybody has any ideas about how I could market to companies in my area better than just sending them a letter.

I have thought about sending out a lot and I mean A LOT of postcards describing my service/services but I have heard that even if I do 500 or that it would almost be pointless and I wouldn't hear anything back.

Four words work almost every time:

Pick Up The Phone.

I've never had trouble getting business by dialing the phone. I'm sure you won't either.

Kick Down Doors.

If you are going after local business go visit them. They are slammed with emails from India every day, multiple times a day. Seeing a "real" person is all some need to see.

Everyone sends them postcards or calls them offering their services. If you want to have exceptional success you must think about what they need.

What I have come to the realization of is that the best way is through referrals. I know a few local business owners, and I just need to ask to meet with them. Instead of asking them for there business, I need to ask them for referrals or at least some sort of tips on marketing to businesses around here.
