How do I get backlinks to show up for my website?

I have been posting on forums, yahoo answeres, facebook, blogs anda bunch more, but on back link watch I only show 40 backlinks. Am I doing something wrong, or is there something to back links that I am missing. My site is indexed, but I do not get any search engine traffic at all. It has over 60 pages of quality content

How do I know the difference between do follow and no follow?

there is some problem with backlinkwatch, they do not update their count that often, or if they do, the count get stuck on a particular number. experienced the same thing with my website.

check out thelinkpop I usually get accurate results with this one. :D :D

Social bookmark those puppies... use several different SB sites... they will show after a bit.

I dont really know what that means? any threads that could help me? Im going to start searching now though

Use the no do follow plug in for mozilla firefox

It quickly highlights all the links, red = no follow and blue = do follow

Make sure the page is indexed and cached and ping to ensure they are indexed

Post the sites with links to your site to sites like reddit, digg, pulse, stumbleupon, mixx... those kind of sites.. submit them until your nose bleeds.

yahoo answeres, facebook

Well first of all those are both no follow links so they are worthless from an SEO perspective (yahoo answers is good for getting click-through traffic though). you need to find sites that give do follow links if you want to rise in the SERPS

secondly, it sounds like none of your links are getting indexed. in order to get your backlinks to count, you need to prove to google they are worthy of being indexed, which means you will have to build backlinks to them. as was said above, one very good way to do this is to submit your backlinks pages to a bunch of social bookmarking sites, which is almost guaranteed to get them indexed. if you have thousands of links, however, all your accounts will get banned at the social bookmarking sites if you submit that many links, which means you will likely have to use a script like Backlinks Energizer or Backlinks Index Express or else outsource it to a service like Index Bear. i use Backlinks Energizer and I can vouch for its effectiveness
