Firefox has gone multiprocess and from November 2017 only AddOns built with the WebExtension API will work.

Have always been a Mozilla fanboy but a lot of addons are going to be abandoned and it will take time for developers to create replacements.

Firefox should become faster and it should be possible for Chrome Extensions to be ported.

People Loved Firefox few years back but now no browser can beat Google Chrome it is everyone's favourite .
 
Firefox is awesome. If it kicks Chrome in speed and Chrome extensions could be imported it'll rock.
 
Multi-process support has killed iMacros compatibility, that's why I am still happy to be using 47.0.2 in order to get max out of iMacros.
But for everything else, like casual browsing, I don't think that Firefox can match Chrome, although they are really trying to.

This news about the addons will probably turn back even more people that used Firefox to move to Chrome or other browsers. Yes, Firefox has always struggled to match Chrome with speed, and they did a lot to speed it up, but if gaining speed results in losing all this customisibility that Firefox users are used to, it may backfire for them.
 
Honestly i don't think that i will ever switch back to Firefox whatever they do. I was an avid FF user myself for long years then on one sunny day i switched to Chrome and i haven't looked back since then. Back then it made a lot of sense to use FF over anything else, because of the addon variety, but now even on the addon market Chrome beats them on some areas.

I don't even use it for iMacros tasks anymore, i just use the standalone iMacros browser.
Moreover going forward in time, Opera with its built-in VPN became my secondary browser (Chrome extensions can be installed), FF is just the third now.

FF fucked this up long time ago, when they let Chrome steal their market share slowly but surely.
 
FF was always my favorite browser on windows and its very good.. i never liked chrome. But today i woudnt switch from safari to any of these :)

Unfortunately, this is what I fear may happen, people will wake up one day in November and find all their favorite addons disabled and find they can't get Firefox to work the way they want, so they will go to Chrome or Opera.

57 November is such a long way away though.

I'll look like a wizard by the time Movember ends.

I can just only imagine and anticipate the launch. Firefox is awesome
