Firefox has gone multiprocess and from November 2017 only AddOns built with the WebExtension API will work.
Have always been a Mozilla fanboy but a lot of addons are going to be abandoned and it will take time for developers to create replacements.
Firefox should become faster and it should be possible for Chrome Extensions to be ported.
