Get a 'REAL' job!

Hi, I'm puretekneeq or PT.

I've been building computers and setting up networks since I was 13, made a few grand online by 17 (and a few grand working for an IT consultant - basically being the monkey who formats/installs client-side computers) but I always considered it simply 'cool' and not a career or REAL job (my friends/family didn't believe you can make money online or that its a real job) so I pretty much ate the blue pill... high school > uni > real job; but I was always bored shitless and nothing came as easily to me as tech, long story short I'm recently unemployed and trying to live the society-approved-uni-real-job-marriage-house cookie cutter lifestyle does not look very appealing. So after a few years of tech neglect (cool phrase I'm getting back into it! My longterm goal is to make a living from online business.

For the past 2 weeks I've been researching SEO/BH and trying things out with wordpress/blogger/social media while relearning my lost tech skills (php/mysql/java) I also uninstalled Windows and switched exclusively to Linux so I can practice server administration (and stop myself playing online games) this should help keep my mind sharp. So far so good, I've made about $60 in 2 weeks just playing around. I plan to re-invest that money in a few domains with some hosting in an attempt to get a consistent cash flow - after that I'm keen to start making some big cash, look forward to reading your advice/comments/suggestions

PT welcome to BHW! So I assume you have some basic knowledge in SEO and BH techniques. Your first step would be finding a profitable niche to build a site right? Here are few thread which gives you some idea. READ every thread fully and get familiarize with that.

Next you need do some keyword research which is very IMPORTANT! IamNRE, posted a newbie friendly keyword research thread. This would surely help you. After finding a profitable niche and keyword, your next step would be building site where you need to concentrate on both on-site and off-site SEO. For off-site SEO, you can check the black hat SEO and white hat SEO section. Both are loaded with valuable information which guide you properly. Also get familiarize with tools like Scrapebox, Xrumer and others.

Finally, for monetizing your site you need to choose the right network which is consistent and converts well for your site. You have wide variety of options like adsense, amazon, CPA and the list goes on. It's all trial and error here.
