get 1 in google... guaranteed?

hey guys thought I'd share this site with you all.

they claim they'll get you 1# in google for free and then you bid on the spot afterwards...

Well one thing I always look for is to check whether they can get to number one for their search terms ... FAIL

and anyway ... I think the search engines would take a dim view of someone 'cheating' the system (white, black, green, yellow with black dots hat). They'd de-index sites in the short term and change algorythms in the long term.

Having said that ... give it a go with a site you don't mind losing if it goes belly up.

Very well stated opinion. Anybody can check SERP of 1on40.com using their keywords:

It sounds pretty much like a scam, and they may probably not harm, and not doing much other seo then directing backlinks to customers' sites, but eventually they'll charge god money from those bidders who eventually reached to top either by fortune or by other seo activities.

Anyway, what they are good in, is their affiliate program that converts like crazy. I am wondering whether will they actually pay some cash to affiliates after April 20, as 1on40 stated in their news?

As an affiliate I've already earned credits in value of $400.

It's like a lottery, but it didn't cost a dime. I'll report about my experience at the end of April / beginning of May.

By the way, my test site jumped about +30 positions on Google SERP since joined to 1on40, but I am not sure about the actual reason of this increase in rank.

I placed a site with them about 12 weeks ago now and i don't see any jump in numbers although they say they will!

Only one person can get ur site on #1 for any keyword and that is google.

Total scam, companies like these have been scamming for years.

I don't argue if it is scam or not, but somehow 1on40 will make some profits. They will not charge if your site is not #1, and if a customer's it is #1, probably it brings in some profits, so that customer may want to pay.
Here may be the trick. Any other idea, what 1on40 may follow to attain?
A huge network of affiliates? What for? There are many controversies, and I'd like to see some commission once.

Maybe company files for bankruptcy before to pay. We can't know. But what if 1on40 will pay out the promised commission?

All it seems like a sweet dream, but at least I try to follow how and what 1on40 did for achieving these pretty good conversions. Eventually I'll learn a better way of copywriting and webdesign. I have nothing to loose.

My hypothesis of the way it works is this.

Person A picks the keywords mortgage, loan, refinance, cash out, financing.

Person B picks mortgages in Chickenville Florida, loans in Chickenville Florida, refinance in Chickenville Florida, cash out in Chickenville Florida, financing in Chickenville Florida.

They submit your site to search engines through an auto-submitter (or they don't do anything).

Person A's site stays the same or even improves if person A does his own SEO on the side.

Person B's site goes to number one on the search engines because his long tail keywords have low or no competition.

Person A says they suck and doesn't pay anything, person B is now a believer in their skills and pays monthly as well as tells the world how great their program is.

This all equals them making money for several months until they are completely unmasked and sued for being scammers. If affiliates are lucky they will start paying some after the company gets paid for their great "SEO" work and the affiliates will promote them for many more months until the pyramid collapses and they can't afford or justify paying affiliates. I also see a lot of payment delays and doubt anyone will be paid.

I am amazed by the conversion of this site. I have to take lessons from its copywriter.

Although the offer about the search engine optimization service is very bold, but the words of this web site sell. Would you like to have such a system for your own product? I seriously think to write some similar style of sales copy. I like to learn from good examples.

Considering thousands of sites submitted, surely some will be easy to get to #1 on some fifteen word keyword phrase. Then you owe them money.

I would think they are planning to target the easy sites and basically charge people a fee when with a few steps such as submitting there site to the search engines they could do it themselves.

I get pissed off with the amount of incorrect and mis-leading information in here and on the internet when people promise you first position or on the first page on google, its time to levcel the playing fields a bit and tell some home truths.

There are not many shortcuts to getting on the first page of google or any of the search engines all it requires is some understanding of on page optimization good quailty content then lots of quality one way backlinks to your webpage or website.

The search engines factor in the age of the domain and a few other things but it takes time to show the search engines that your behaviour is natural and not all automatic generators or whatever bit of software your currently using.

Its the newbies lack of knowledge and greed to get rich quick that attracts them to these sh-t traffic schemes that rip them off, but l have to say they ask for it by rushing in instead of learning their trade.

The time some people spend trying to outwit the main search engines - you could have built a site that ranks naturally.

Good SEO is relatively strightforward. You win some, you lose some. Thinking you can make a living with one site is naive (though does happen rarely). Build sites, (throw mud at the wall - some of it sticks) ... check back a few months later and concentrate on the sites that are working - tweak, test, tweak.

Domains are cheap, hosting can be cheap with Reseller accounts ... Learn the skills! That is the only way you will succeed unless you can afford to pay someone for their skills, or partner up with someone.

Your guess may be right IMHO.

You should think not about thousands, but about hundreds of thousands of web sites.

February news stated:

All I can tell is these guys are really smart.. They have so many backlinks and traffic. People even pay them for that. LOL
