Hello guys, my pc got affected by dot gero ransomeware... Though it doesn't contain important files (only about 50gb total storage) please suggest whether I've to delete and restore my pc or is there any solution to descypt the files?

The Safest way is just to completely format it. That's the only way you will be sure, that it won't spread anywhere else.

Thank you mate.... Any suggestions for future prevention?

I've got two, but they both involve an investment

First one is very cheap: go to ebay.com and buy a license for NOD32. Should be less than 5$ and it should work for a few years

Second one is: buy NAS storage or an external disk. Backup important stuff daily. If you're too lazy to do that manually, install SyncBack pro which enables you to schedule backups to your NAS storage or external disk.

Or next time when you wanna run some shady program ... run it in Sandbox.

Just be aware that some of these viruses will find drives attached to the network as well, and encrypt those.

Further more, if your backup program has authenticated with the nas share recently then it may be accessible to the computer without the need for further authentication.

I’d recommend cloud backup with revisions, or keeping your data in something like Dropbox where you can also get revisions of your data at set points in time. I’d also recommend periodic manual backups to a drive that you keep separate from your computer.

Thanks Sir, I've a quick question.... Do I need to reset all my passwords (for all my emails and other login credinals which I've auto saved in chrome) once I restored my computer? Do you have any idea what kind of password details they might have theft from my browser till now?
