Millions of views on your Instagram account, hundreds of thousands of followers, but no traffic. What could be the catch?
Check your geolocation.
In my work with traffic acquisition, I was often sent accounts with huge reach, but the U.S. audience was at the very bottom—or absent entirely. If the account is reaching other high-paying countries, that’s not a problem.
But what if your top countries are Iran, Iraq, Uzbekistan, and India?
If your account is still a baby , that’s normal. During the first month or two, geolocation will stabilize, and your content will start showing in different countries. For now, observe the situation and try creating content that attracts an English-speaking audience.
American followers might be interested in:
Follow American models—both big accounts and smaller ones. Study their content style, the tracks they use, and interact with them (SFS). Monitor “priority”—this shows subscriptions from big accounts, which puts you in recommendations for their followers. If it’s a big account from an undesirable country, it’s better to block it.
If you already have a large account but no U.S. geolocation, it’s very unlikely you can fix it, since changing geolocation would require tens of thousands of fans from other countries. But you can still try all the tips from the previous section.
If your large account already has a U.S. audience, analyze it: for each viral reel or post, check the view statistics by country. For example, some of my posts ended up in the wrong geo, so I deleted and re-uploaded those reels. Reels with certain tracks almost always reach the U.S., as do some specific niches. Sometimes it’s random—parts of the same video land in both Iran and the U.S. In that case, I delete the version that landed in Iran before it can harm my account. By the way, photo posts on my account almost always reach the U.S., unlike reels.

- Unusual locations, or locations somewhat resembling U.S. settings
