Gathering BackLinks

Well, I'm gathering backlinks through blog commenting. But I'm wondering, does it matter if the blogs aren't related to your niche? Lets say that I'm in the Movie niche and I'm commenting on blogs about uhhh SEO Blogging and Technology. Would those links not help me at all, even if they are PR2 and PR3 blogs?

yes.. a link is a link.. if the blog is ********, then you will definitely get the benefit from it.

the method i explained here had nothing to do with relevancy.. i commented on almost any blog i could find and finally got a number 1 ranking..

i agree - a link is a link. if you find a high pr blog that you can leave a link on (even if it isn't related) drop the link - your pr value will increase.

one thing i'd recommend - spread your linking activity around - don't just do blog commenting - do some social bookmarking, get some web 2.0 links - mix it up

you can use socializer and onlywire to speed up using social bookmarking.

That said, I still hit any high PR non-moderated ******** I find no matter what the topic is. Links on-niche may be 5 times more powerful, but they're also 50 times harder to get quickly

pretty much a link is a link, im not sure if google regards comment links are more spammy especially in high volumes though

If you just want backlinks, it doesn't matter, although I've found I get 2-4 hits per comment and if they are in a related niche, they usually stay on my blog/website for a longer period of time and read more content instead of just going on, looking, reading two lines then closing the page, but if your building backlinks, it doesn't matter.
