I keep threatening this... and although this is not the full write up I do have one coming for another site once done ill share.

But thought id post there as I've mentioned it before in passing to a few members and in the monthly what we up to thread that @MisterF does...

So bit of a backstory... This house is a stop-gap while we get ours built. I never planned on doing this much work but I rolled and snapped 3 ligaments in my ankle one day and decided the garden had to be leveled. I had 2 people come and look at the job.

One laughed at me and never quoted. The other wanted 12k (agreed) but never turned up he was going to do it with a machine.

So deciding to be a fuck you all kind of person and powered with people telling me I couldnt do it I decided to move 122ton of soil by hand...

Start with some progress shots with where I am today (note last image walls are a bit darker up top as I just rendered them 3hours ago!)

Excuse photos but gives you some kind of idea what I been up to. I moved 44 ton by hand to the middle of the garden to level that section off (where the turf it) the other 80 ton I used a wheelbarrow and took it over to the local allotment site entire project so far has cost me 2 years working in free time, back pain, shoulder pain and about 6k in total had no help done all this myself :)

On home stretch now though... plan is to finish it all this year walls did not come out as nice as I had hoped so will paint them next year in some earth tone paint. I got the very top section of the garden to do over winter and to clad that double high garage & gym ... time I finish will be ready to move lol...

Good to see people keeping busy during the lockdown lol.

I started this before lockdown...lol in fact if it wasn't for lockdown Id have finished all of this before summer! I'm way behind this year due to the increasing demand in work and having no staff at hand!

Looking great - huge improvement.
Did you buy rolls of grass, or what are those lines in the grass?

I'm doing a lawn makeover myself (aerate, dethatching, verticutting, topdress) - it is a LOT of fun. Same as with your story - tried to get 3 companies to do it but none of them showed up.

Keep it up - each minute invested will (hopefully) pay back when you sell it.

Yeah rolls of turf (grass) normally you dont see the lines when they get placed down BUT..

1. it was so hot yeterday no matter how much water applied they started to dry / shrink
2. the turf we chose is a premium short hair for low / close mowing so you can't brush the grass over like you would with a longer turf to blend it

It's been over seeded to help blend but after a week the join lines should go totally.

This won't sell not yet I dont think will be the last one in our rental portfolio!

It looks great :) A little bit more work and your going to have a great outdoor space. Well done.

Nice a bit crowded but much better result.

But it's just for me, my place there I live:

Yeah it is crowded! Thats typical UK houses though or welsh valley houses I should say we don't have the land mass... that said we have land I'm trying to get planning to approve new round of changes and building work will be started going all pre fab so should be done within 12 months I hope once everything is sorted!
