"What a great question! You see, we have found that NORMAL searchers want quality search results. Google is invested in giving searchers quality results. If searchers happen to click an ad then thats great. What our studies have shown is that if you make ALL the above the fold space filled with ads then NORMAL searchers love to click ads. We want to give searchers the best results and searchers love clicking ads. It just happens to work out this way. The fact that it fills our offices waste deep with hundred dollars bills weekly is just a pleasant and unrelated coincidence. I hope this helps answer your question." - Matt

A simple thank you will not suffice. You have provided all of the information that anyone needs to know about what actually motivates Google. I'm picturing Matt sloshing around his office in hip waders to avoid getting money dirt on his Dockers. The EU and others have had hearings and written mountains about how to allow Google to thrive without putting the rest of the world economy out of business.
