Follow me as I start a legitimate whitehat marketing business and boost the sales of local businesses

    Introduction

I've been working online on and off for the past 4 years. I've tested it all, from Adsense, to affiliate marketing, to reselling Fiverr services, and even writing and selling eBooks. Right now I have a relatively steady source of income coming from promoting CPA offers, and I'll occasionally update my status on that here, but the main focus of the journal is my next huge project. I'm going to be starting a marketing agency. It will focus on different internet related services, that will aid local businesses, mainly SEO, ORM, social media management, and lead generation.
I chose this as my next big project, because I'm tired of losing progress, and doing unfulfilling work with all of the black hat marketing I've done. Instead of getting $2 from someone who wants a free iPhone, I'm going to be increasing sales of local businesses and gaining more applicable skills.
One thing that may slow me down is the fact that I'm still in high school. However I still do have a lot of free time, so I stay motivated to work on this. I'm going to be moving out of my parents house in the coming weeks, so that will cut out most distractions.

    Game Plan
I'm going to begin by buying a domain and putting on a fancy WordPress theme. I'll fill it up with content and make it look like it's been around for years.
After it's tweaked to my liking, I'm going to find some small businesses to do some basic work for, for free, so I can get some legitimate testimonials and start a portfolio.
Once I've gotten the testimonials/go ahead to put them in my portfolio, I'm going to start gathering info of local businesses, assessing their online presence, and offering them a service package accordingly. I'm going to use lots of different emailing techniques to see what works best for me.
From there, all I have to do is set everything up for the businesses and repeat!

    Today
Today I will be buying the domain, putting a WordPress theme on it and filling it with as much content as possible.

    Goals
Goals are a very important part of starting any project. I think it's good to have long term and short term goals, some realistic, and some less realistic than others. Here's the goals I've set for myself that will lead me to the end of this journal.
    First Client [ ]
    Five Clients [ ]
    Ten Clients [ ]
    Monthly income of $500 [ ]
    Monthly income of $1000 [ ]
    Total income of $10,000 [ ]
    Total profit of $10,000 [ ]

    CPA Earnings
Like I said in the intro, I won't be going into what I'm doing to earn money on the side, but I'm going to update once a week or so, just so you guys know how I'm supporting myself while most of my attention is on the big business. If these earnings go down, I will have to divert my focus onto my CPA venture. I will also be putting some work/maintenance into it over time. These earnings are more or less autopilot.

    March 10th, 2014 $98
    March 11th, 2014 $94
    March 12th, 2014 $134
    March 13th, 2014 $102
    March 14th, 2014 $104
    March 15th, 2014 $134
    March 16th, 2014 $142
    Total $808

What is about the traffic source?

You need traffic for your goal.

    I outlined it here:

I'm going to find a bunch of businesses with bad websites/no website/bad reputation/whatever else, through online directories, or just seeing them in real life (I'm going to focus on businesses in my town first, just because I think that it will build a lot of trust and be a lot easier for both parties.) and then email them. I'm not going to put the website up and send traffic, I'm mainly just going to use it as a tool to seem more established and trustworthy, as well as expand on the different services I provide.

Thanks ! I liked your goal setting strategy.
You mentioned that you are targeting local businesses, which types of they are?
And which services do you offer them?

Ok, I'm not an expert in this field. But, I've seen people here on BHW using the similar method and having a better conversion rate by sending hard letters to their potential customers. Most people tend to ignore emails, but letters are something that they at least go through once.

Again, I've never done anything such as this. My advice is based on success of some of our BHW members using the same method. I would suggest you to give it a try.

    Good luck with your journey!

Thanks for the advice! I have seen a lot of people doing that, but I think I'm going to wait a while before I start sending letters. I'd like to get a PO Box first, just because I don't want my home address being sent to the people. I'm also probably going to use a fake persona, at least until it becomes a real business (LTD. and all) just to keep my anonymity.

Haven't given up but slightly delayed. I have a big opportunity to scale my CPA earnings right now so I gotta focus on that.

Here's my progress on the service site thus far:

    ✔ Found WordPress Theme
    ✔ Obtained WordPress Theme
✔ Settled on a name for the business

    × Bought domain
× Written/placed images on WordPress site

I hope to get all of this done by the end of the week.

This is a journey of a person who is not gonna say anything about the method? How are we supposed to follow it just by looking at your income success?

Best of luck. I would like to be a part of journey and maybe we could learn together. We all know, or should know, that our first time into a business is our most difficult and most helpful. Please add me if you would like to discuss:

    Hey guys,

The journey is going to have to be put on hold for a little while longer. My CPA earnings have gone down quite quickly (I had to take a pay cut from the network, and my traffic is slowing down), but I think I can bring them up to what they were at before or even higher within a few days.

Here are my earnings for this week so far, just so you understand why I'm shifting my focus:

    March 17th, 2014 $102
    March 18th, 2014 $94
    March 19th, 2014 $70
    March 20th, 2014 $66
    March 21st, 2014 $60

This sounds like one the more serious journeys. Doesn't matter if you are going to concentrate on your main money income first, it's nice you have the opportunity to start a new venture, while still profiting from your existing one and this will give you a cutting edge when you are talking about prices and discounts with the businesses. I mean - you would be able to tell them it's your price, not theirs. :)

Have fun doing what it takes to make this reality.

    Have fun, mate. :)

    Best regards,
    Axeny
