Friends or Followers? Which direction should I go

I decided to build and eventually monetize a facebook page in a niche i am interested in.

I built a fake profile, then created a fan page in my niche.

I've read a few threads about others building up the personal account with friends, then transferring those friends over to a group, however those arent niche targeted friends.

If i build a fan page with many likes and followers will I be able to solicit in the future? My plan is to join and interact in as many related groups and members as possible and hopefully get followers.

I'm just a little confused about facebook groups vs personal profiles and which are better to focus on and monetize.

I would advise you go for a page, because it's more authoritative than a profile.

You could reach only a small percentage of your fans via organic reach, but you could reach most of your fans via Facebook ads.
