Freelancer security fee

Hey guys, I'm working on Fiverr and I just have been called for a project where I would have a $ 1,000 salary, but to be admitted I have to pay 50 bucks for ''security reasons'' which they say that will be rufunded to me after I get the work done.
I'm not sure if it is safe, I'm not sure if he just want to have my 50 bucks and walk away lol
I was wondering if an experienced freelancer could help me out and give a light of what I should do.

I love it, Fiverr is monetizing anything and everything.

To work with the person via fiverr you are going to have to pay. It is a platform for sellers as well as buyers.

It's a lot of money, though. Isn't paying the salary when we finish the project enough?
 
Imagine asking for something like that from your potential employee during the job interview in person.

The client is asking you $50? Walk away, it's a scam. No one will ask you money to do their work for them.

Report Fiverr about this person.

If there was any such security fee, Fiverr would directly ask you.

Sounds dodgy.

If you want to play with the guy a bit, ask what security reasons those might be. Since buyers are covered by the buyer protection of Fiverr, on top of that of PayPal.

You aren't even allowed to contact or do business outside Fiverr, so how would the payment be done exactly? It wouldn't be through official channels. You aren't just risking 50 bucks, but also a warning from Fiverr.

On the other hand you can always look at the profile of the buyer. See how legit it is. If someone has an established account, he/she won't pull a trick for only 50 bucks. I'd steer clear from this one though.
 
You should say 'No' to this client without a shadow of doubt. Fiverr has rules and regulations to protect buyers money and sellers rights. It doesn't involve any security money from seller. This guy is surely a cheater. Stay away from him and do not waste time and energy communicating with him.

Instead focus on other legit clients to do business with.
 
I would say you are a client for him and the other party is trying to make money from you.
 
Any time you hear about a "security fee" for a job, it is a scam. It is not a new scam though. It existed even before the internet was born.

Stay away from these a$$h0les.
 
Run away as far as possible from that job. Never trust clients who ask for money to start the work as a freelancer. Speaking from exp.
