but is it really showing the correct results? it is not showing the same results as google us?
for ex i enter a keyword google us shows 8.000.000 results and your tool shows 3.300.000 results.
top 10 site urls are also different than google's...
i really like this tool but i am not sure if it gives the real time rankings...
is it possible for you to modify the tool, so it can get real time results from google?
thanks
We'll look into the discrepancy in # of search results.
There are a few reasons as to why you are seeing different URLs than when in your browser. Google has moved to "personalized search results" which means there is a good chance the top 10 URLs you see are different from what I see. This is due to the following reasons:
1) Location/IP of the searcher. If you're in New York and I'm in Los Angeles, Google may show us geo-based results closer to our location. Example, if searching "seo companies", I might see listings for seo companies in Los Angeles while you might see SEO companies in NY. This became more apparent in the venice update a while back.
2) Logged into Google. If you have a google account, google is tracking which sites you frequently visit and will rank those higher for you since they know you like those sites.
1. Google & Browsing History - Google tracks your search history and knows which websites you spend your time on. If Google notices frequent visits to a particular website it will ignore common search engine ranking factors and automatically rank the website higher. Personalization from your Google account can be switched off simply by logging out of Google.
2. Cookies & Browsing History - Unfortunately logging out of Google isn't always enough. Even if you're logged out of Google your search history is being tracked through the use of HTTP cookies placed on your computer. Google uses these cookies to see what other websites you visit often and ranks them higher. You can prevent Google from using cookies to track your browsing history can by a) clearing and/or disabling cookies in your browser and b) adding &pws=0 at the end of the URL in your browser.
3. Search + Your World Update - On January 10, 2012 Google released an update which aggressively incorporated data from Google+ into the search results. In short, Google will display webpages shared by your network from Google+ in your search results. Personalization from this update can be switched off by logging out of Google or turning off the "Search + Your World" feature in the search results themselves.
4. Location - Depending on your location Google will display different search results. Google can determine your location by a) looking at your specified city on the left sidebar or b) looking at your IP address. A search for "dentists" will show much different results for someone in San Diego vs. Atlanta, branded search are often affected by the location as well. It is important to note that many computers on a network share the same IP address. This means that if someone on your network visits a particular website often, you will see higher rankings for that website. Personalization based on the location can be disabled by a) setting your specified location to "United States" and b) using a proxy such as HideMyAss.com to change your IP address.
5. Ongoing User Testing - Despite the other factors listed above, it's still possible to see different
results due to Google's ongoing user testing. As we speak, Google is running many experiments
to test domain diversity, search results look and feel, click through rates, etc. You may be a part
of an experiment and not even know it. Google often modifies rankings of websites to see which
pages are worth of the front and receive the most clicks. As a result, it's possible to have
different search results if you are part of a test group. Unfortunately there is way to know
whether or not you are part of an experiment and opt out.
