Free Food Hack - Works Like a Charm

Why don't people who need it do it on their own?

Because they do not know which was why my wife shared how they can help themselves.

Give them some fish and teach them how to fish if they are in a bad spot.

She has a whole list of places printed out for folks like that to help them out.

Now what's really needed is a law that supermarkets are not allowed to throw away food, but have to give it to those in need.
This cuts down on waste in the first place, and helps poor families. Simply human methinks.
AFAIK such a law only exists in France. But I hope to stand corrected.

There is a law in some state and it was stupid and abusive

I explain:

In the past, we were able to buy a kilogram of aguacate. Now, the supermarkets sell 1 aguacate and over-filled with plastic for almost the same price that we used to buy a kilo of aguacate. So, there is no waste (in food) because they are selling less for the same price or simply because the people are not buying it anymore.

Find a food pantry in your area that gives out free food.

Take all they are willing to give.

Deliver it to a family in need and explain to them the process so they can get help going forward.

My wife did that this AM and that family got at least 100.00 in free food; nice people who are a little down on their luck who have 3 children and one is a newborn.

Burma Shave.

I participated in a leadership program hosted by a local chamber of commerce a few years ago. Our class would meet once a month and we would do completely different things each meeting (e.g. going to hospitals, schools, jail, city hall, etc to learn how they function). So, we had homeless simulation on one of the days and it was an eye opening experience. We had to pretend we lived lives of homeless or very low income individuals. it was interesting to learn that there are plenty of orgs providing resources and financial assistance to people in need (from free transit passes to free food to Shelters to subsidized housing). Before that day I had no idea these programs existed. On a different note, it's really stressful to be a low income person or household. You ar constantly have to go somewhere to do something. There is no room for mistake. If you miss your bus pick up appointment, you can't go to work and you can't pay your rent, etc. Money can't buy you happiness, but it can provide a little piss of mind and flexibility.

dude i have friends working at fast food chains and their managements literally just throw away still edible (they havent been touched or nothing just cooked i guess) food for the day. i live in a not so good country with a not so good economy and i mean if you add up all the food you can get even if its greasy or otherwise high cal shit youd still be feeding communities who literally have to rummage garbage and refry leftovers. at least give some to the employees like geez
