Sounds good offer, Would you recommend using 1and1 hosting to my autblogs? or just stick to HG?

No. Hell no. 1and1 has a lot of disgruntled customers right now.

thanks gregstereo. me and my partner are planning to test their hosting via autoblog but maybe we will just stick to HG. :o

1and1 - worst domain registrar bar none! They'll cause you a lot of headaches down the road when you try to change anything. Avoid them like the plague!

shit this sucks. They take a lifetime to register the domain. Fuck 1and1

I AGREE. 1 and 1 is the webhoster and domain registar from hell.

Registered 200 domains with them about 2 years ago and could not get them
transfered to namecheap for _hit.

You will be very VERY SORRY if you do any business with them at all.

it says waiting for approval.
Ya mine says this also and it has been 1 1/2 days and my domain is still available on other registrars which doesn't make me feel too optimisitc. i contacted them and they said it takes 24-48 hours for them to register the domain which makes no sense.

Ya its been 48 hours now and they still havent registered the domain yet i can still go register it at any other registrar.

Okay that's total bullshit (not what you posted, how 1and1 apparently operates)....there's no valid reason to not process a reg right away....

For anyone who has domain names in pending or waiting for approval status @ 1and1, I would highly recommend taking a 2-track strategy if you have any serious interest in those names....

first, like BBBBB suggests, try to register them at another registrar...any reputable registrar...I've never heard of any reputable registar pulling this wait for approval crap....get the name(s) somewhere else and be done with 1and1's garbage reg process...

second, if you fail to get the name via another registrar, just harass the living hell out of 1and1 to push the name through....

from what ive seen domain regs are like the maffia...they do what they want...and no one can do shit about it.

1and1 has always been like this bitching at them doesn't help they don't care about customer service.

PS: Domain is still not registered but i got an invoice for it about an hour ago.

1&1 hosting has got to be one of the most gawd-awful hosting/domain services I've ever had the misfortune to be involved with - EVER!

As previously mentioned by others here, their customer service is horrendous. They take forever to cancel any services that you have. A while back I ended up having to cancel my CC and do a bunch of charge backs to get them to stop billing me for services that THEY said were cancelled.

They're like many of those CPA forced continuity offers that you can't seem to get out of. LOL

I wouldn't EVER AGAIN accept anything, free or otherwise, from 1&1. It AIN'T worth the hassle.

My 3 centavos anyway. :D

1&1 does take forever in terms of DNS resolution with setting up domain names but, after that it's more or less fine. Their invoices are also vauge so if you have lots of domains it's really difficult to tell which domain your being billed for. The fact that they enable auto-renew without asking is also a pain in the a$$.

I found customer service to be friendly when I called about a domain accidentally renewing and they reveres-ed the charge and canceled the domain.

I currently host 30+ domains with them and save several dollars per year per domain as opposed to my previous registrar.

Canceling a domain is difficult and they definitely need a better system but, I guess it's a sacrifice for getting a better price.

Well my domain still isnt registered so i contacted 1and1 again and now instead of the orignal 24-48 hours they say it can take up to 7 days LMAO needless to say that's total bullshit im about to go over to namecheap and just pay the $9 alot less hassle. Has anyone actually received their free domain yet?
