@ritesh, of course it needs CC, or do you want by May 31 everybody and their dog to register 100+domains each? :)

I would assume that one per account. After all 1&1 is not the generous uncle here.
 
I've never liked 1&1 very much, had a dispute with them a few years back about what canceling a domain meant, and their really sh1tty customer service. But hopefully you can have better luck.

I looked over what they are offering, and it doesn't seem to have any obvious catches that I could see. Good luck on the free domain hunt.
 
they did the same deal awhile back, maybe a year or 2 so im sure its legit. just remove ur card from the auto renew

Just signed up using paypal, seems they take 24 hrs to process the order. Lets see, I will cancel my billing agreement with them after I get the domian ;)
 
Past the 24 hour period for me and haven't had any problems on my end.
 
1and1 is complete shit, their company sucks at everything they offer.
 
Registered one domain two days ago, stuck one and half days with the "Requesting Domain" message, then got domain in account, changed DNS and website is live.

No proof, no ID, nothing.. I just used my verified paypal.

So far, I have 7 almost free domains with various providers in the last two months. Thanks for all those great posts here.

DOMAINS
Gandi - two free domains
Netfirms - two 1$ domains
Netfirms - one 3.99$ domain
Yahoo - one 1.99$ domain
1&1 - one free domain

HOSTING
chimehost - Free 3 months hosting, so far going good. So I think I will continue hosting with them. But they stopped the free hosting offer for newcomers.

Of course they require Credit card. they need some assurance that these free will convert to paid ones or will use their CC for renew.
 
I've had trouble transferring domains away from 1and1. Great to get free domains, but start early on the transfer process after your free year, because they take a long time and give the runaround for closing accounts. Overall, not worth the trouble to save a few bucks IMO.
 
Sounds good offer, Would you recommend using 1and1 hosting to my autblogs? or just stick to HG?
 
This is one forum I really enjoy.

Now after Name.com made me pay $2 per privacy, I am gonna transfer all my domains away from there... as soon as the sales team will confirm that privacy is free there after the first year.

Can anyone write down his experience with NetFirms? In terms of domain names.

I never heard anything about them (negative or positive).
