Use report Button for useless / Irrelevant comments

Yeah, I totally can't see that being abused...

We had a reputation system here at one point where you could negative rep someone, but if I recall correctly, it was removed shortly after I joined after being abused.

This isn't WaFo, so just report or ignore members you see making offensive jokes.

The best way is to anonymously use the report button as mentioned above.
We just have to actually use it!
I do and it works very well when the content is obviously BS

it was seriously abused to the point of stupidity scores of friends would rep other
friends posts so they just took it out.

Let's go through five of the problems I can think of with this idea:

1. Marketplace sellers will use the system to issue infractions to competitors and potential competitors. Potential competitors won't be able to open a marketplace thread with an active infraction.
2. "Offensive" is subjective. What you find offensive, another member might not mind. Black Hat World is not your safe space.
3. Issuing an infraction for "making fun of anyone" is also difficult to define. While we have a rule here against excessive trolling, I've seen numerous members send in reports for two members who know each other poking fun at one another. Some of the ELLs on the forum will interpret a jest as an argument.
4. You're probably not aware of the clique members here, but if you "dislike" a post and get the wrong member an infraction, you can bet that they'll harass you with the dislike button until you leave the forum.
5. All of the other moderators and I will have to do more work ensuring that the regular members aren't abusing the system, leaving us less time to focus on more important issues.
6. Personal bias will inevitably cloud the judgement of most members.

Only joking OP, there is an IGNORE button if you don't want to see posts by certain members. It won't stop people from cracking jokes though,

u have to bare in mind when uve been herer 5/9 years like me/wilson
sometimes u get a little irritated when 70% of new members dont post there
questions in the right forum section , do the obligatory show me how to make money.
join just to spam there crappy links n get banned. and my favorite

If people took time to read forum rules before posting, bothered using search correctly to see if the same question has been asked, didn't try to spam / add affiliate links/ post self referral links or beg for money / ideas or to be spoonfed, people would be more tolerant in general.

As for these points;

If a person didn't like someone, then they'd round all their friends up via Skype and just attack others using this method.
As @Zwielicht mentions above, it's another way to take down other sellers in the Marketplace too.

I wonder how many people don't know how to use the advanced search on here?

The intention for this is good but I think the "report" button would be forgotten or set aside if the "dislike" button is implemented. for me, it would be better to stick with the "report" button.
