Howdy,

I am creating a page in a developing country, and trying to target for a small basket of keywords. My main competitor (who I am an affiliate through) is number 5 in results, has 85 backlinks, and has a 3 year old domain. There are 700k in competitors, and a yahoo answers page at the bottom of the page. I currently have 200 backlinks, and my site is two months old. How hard would it be to rank on the first page? And as one more bit of info, he only has a sales page. Any thoughts?

You know... 10 quality backlinks can be stronger than 200 backlinks. How are you creating links?

Doesn't seem to hard to rank within a few months. GL
 
Try get some high PR blog comments or link with high PR, there are a number of services here or otherwise you could do it manually using the provided lists on the forum.

Also look into maybe building some web 2.0 properties which should help you. Theres a nice list of web 2.0s here.

Thanks. I will try those. I had someone else do the linking, but the were mostly those type of sites.
 
You cant play with number of back links while trying to out rank a particular site...Lots of other factors matter a lot.

My suggest would be buy some home page links along with generic links ..You can go to BST and do it !
 
Also, most the links seem to be whois type domains.

I understand. I don't necessarily want to outrank him, zi just want to be on the first page. 'ut if I do outrank him, that is good too.

That is what I thought. It is an emd, but I have and match, nut it has a hyphen. Actually, that one I mentioned was not my affiliate master. I was thinking of another keyword.
