I was born in the 70's I remember it well. Reggie Jackson was the king of homeruns, Fonzie was the king of motorcylces, and mom dressed us in brown corduroy bell bottoms and we thought that shit was sharp.
Then came the 80's and the advent of MTV and there was actually good music on it that didn't consist of slappin' bitches and gittin' paid..
I was first on my block to get a sony walkman and listened to "pac-man fever" more times than any sane person should attempt. We were the 1st generation gamers with pong, night driver, donkey kong, dig-dug and galaga at the corner store on a saturday mornings with a pocket full of quarters trying to get our initials at the top..those were good times
In 90's saw the advent of the first Home PC with an amazing 200mb hd and whopping 4mb of ram -all for a mere 3k! My first remote download consisted of dialing a number out of state to get a 1.4mb driver - only took 40 minutes and $8 long distance phone charge. Peopl carried mobile phones in suitcases.
The 2000's were marked with Napster and I counted myself as one of the "first on - last off" crowd, downloading at a whopping 4mB/s from my good 'ol 56k. If I had a nickel for every transfer that failed or song that had screechs in the middle I would have had enough to invest in gold when it was still just $300 an ounce.
and just think ..all the teens of today will look back in 30 years from now and reminisce the same way we old farts are ".. when I grew up we didn't have ports in the side of our heads you had to stare at a screen to see the internet..."
