For all those born in 70's & 80's !

That is awesome! Reminds me of my first offline method:

1. Shoplift 60min cassette tapes from Sears.
2. Record MTV hits through Dad's "hifi" TV speakers onto cassette tapes
3. Smuggle bootleg tapes into school in hollowed out dictionary.
4. Sell tapes to other kids who weren't allowed to watch or that didn't have MTV behind the gym during recess! LOL $3-$5 ea!

Come to think of it I made more money doing that than I have in the last year of IM... Sh*T! that is depressing! funny though....:p

Femmy emo teenage boys with weird-looking jeans falling off their ass.

I mean, back in the day I thought Steve Perry from Journey and maybe even the Bee Gees were good male role models, but I was young, stupid and no one ever told me what GAY looked like. But gay has been around and out in open the for a long time now, and today's teenagers ought to be a lot smarter than I was.

Nah. they aren't actually fags, or I would move to another state xD.

They just say "nooo! lets play basketball! Becuase I don't want to get tackled because I'm are weak and cannot withstand the pain. So lets play basketball where if you go as far as to tap a person, there is a foul."

Uhg. Kids today are two soft. We should have to be in the military for 2 years mandatory so kids will have some respect for the damn country that gives them everything they have.

I could rant about kids today forever.

For heaven's sake, they don't even know how to solute properly!

A kid who claims he wants to be a navy seal solutes with one finger.

Ahh we're loosing the most valuable thing our country ever had... HONOR!

Guilty as charged of everything written there! :) I remember when I finally upgraded (after swearing and begging my parents...) to a 14.4 kb modem: wow, that was blazing fast, man... I totally felt like I could be the kid of War Games, right after that.. :D

Internet (and BBS before that) was a very different place. It's true we were the pioneers of a new era. And sorry to say that no board, no outlaw committee, no underground group motivated by some agenda today will ever be able to recreate the sense of reckless community and that feeling of belonging to something unique we felt on the net back then.

At the time you weren't cool because you wanted to know, you didn't do it because everybody was "on it", you didn't do it because it was trendy, you didn't do it for lulz and you didn't do it for the cash, you did it because you were curious and often had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. The world was still big, diverse, non-realtime. No google, no wikipedia, no real connections outside your neighborhood: curiosity and knowledge were commodities hard to find, slow to obtain, but invaluable to share with your peers maybe -for the first time- some like-minded kids at the opposite end of the globe. And you can't really explain what it was like to those who weren't there.

But whatever time goes by, they say.. :)

Ha! Good spirit my friend. I hope you helped him up? Own the gridiron but play between the lines!

Yeah I helped him up and stuff. He was one of the big kids so it took our whole team to tackle him, lol..

in the middle of the night, fucking modems told our parents that your son is watching porn

Soon we are going to live in Idiocracy, so I don't care much what it used to be in the 1980-90-2000-ies, because I remember it and it sucked badly. Today kids have 300%+ chance of getting laid that the nerds of the 1980-ies, who are today top IMers.

C64 + black and white CRT TV was da shit :)

thanks for posting this, it's reminding me another thing: i won't get any younger
so i need to call that girl from the other day

Times change - always have and always will. Nothing bad in that.

we are the one who played mario 1000s times ;)

Glory Days Anyone?

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for
authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place
of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their
households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They
contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties
at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."

Attributed to Socrates or Plato

Every generation has a myopic vision of the children and times, but you know they play their part in creating the gap.

Your as mentally young as you want to be

True, I can still remember... old school, old machine, computer...

proud to be born in 80 but little bit envious whit new gen

I had the ZX-81 and then the ZX-Spectrum, then got the commodore64 which had the sound from your games on your TV.
Jet Set Willy was a great game then, how quickly things have moved on.

Thanks for reminding, its touching and emotional feeling after reading. That time my father's payment was 50Rs.(1$) and now its 10*....:D
Till now there's been lots of changes..
Really thanks for reminding...

Yes, great description - so much fun :)

Or playing games over serial connection. Call your friend up and make sure that they had their modem ready, hang up the phone and then dial the number back with your modem and get the game to connect.
