First off i will make flyers that say FREE PARTY with my site on the back, and distrubute them acroos the schools in toronto. i would then get a ton of traffic from high school kids who want to go to this "free party". and as soon as they enter the site it will ask for their email so that way i will have a huge email marketing base where i can send a message and it will get across to 1000s and 1000s of people. Then through the automated email service i tell the people go to the free party section on the website and write their name's so we can register them for our guest list. I am going to pretend like this free party is gonna be huge! People will get excited but the only reason im doing this is to get a ton of traffic

Basically i am making a website based on my city's nightlife, telling people whats hot on the weekends house parties clubs etc, i will be reviewing clubs on my page and giving away weekly tickets to various venues. After a good steady traffic source i am going to call up the clubs that i put weekly into my site and i will be like, "look we have this site and we feature you weekly on it. We have X number of traffic per month and this is a great way to advertise! If you want to stay on our site and continue us posting your events you have to pay a monthly fee of $80. This is targeted traffic so you will have a lot of people know when your events are going to take place". Ill do that with about 8-10 clubs in the Toronto district, and will try to get them to pay the monthly fee to advertise on our site!

Can the BHW community please give me any suggestions, tips, or valuable information regarding my business venture i mean is this a good idea..? Thanks i really appreciate it!

Seriously I think this has the seeds of a great idea.... reminds me of groupon.

I have friends in Toronto that will help you. PM me.

I'm thinking you can mlm model this, give people $ to be "leaders" who spread the flyers, make the "flyers" fb links, etc., etc.

No, this has potential be be a great idea.

check out meetup dot com and see how you can use this service. :)

Hey mate. this is an awesome idea. what i'd say is make the entry cost for the clubs a little lower, say $50. But then charge them a % of tickets sold. Say your link has managed to sell $2500 of event tickets, get 10%. You could be making bank with this monthly. :cool2:

Good idea. Once concern that I have is your desire to make this a real business. If you deceive the initial people to the site...and they think there will REALLY be a free party, etc....and there clearly is no party; it might piss them off and give them a bad taste in their mouth about your website/business.

What I would do is partner up with a club that really wants the business...have them set it all up for free cover...and actually have a real launch event for your website. The real problem with high school kids is how do you monetize them? What is the drinking age in Canada? The club can't sell them booze....Wouldn't this be a better strategy if you targeted college kids as well?

I agree with eyerish on this one, I don't want to be buzzkillington, but what do you expect the actual response rate would be? 1%...3%? Handout 5,000 flyers to high school kids, they'd all run home and get on their computers? Get real. You'd be just as likely to do this by creating a facebook group "<school> party scene" But you're back to the original problem, how are you going to monetize all these kids. Personally I think this would be 50x easier, creating a facebook page, and inviting each kid to the events you throw... Personally I don't see the money doing it by the flyers and tricking the kids to goto your site.

I have heard this idea before in an interview on Mixergy. The thing was a failure and the owner started his own Ads network on facebook games. Can't remember names, website, not a damn thing. Damn liquor..

Thanks for the great ideas! Eyerish the drinking age in Canada is 19, but we have many events that are all ages. Meaning all ages are welcome but they will not serve them alcohol.

Yeah - gotta go with eyerish and Ravasz on this one...

You have to actually deliver something on the backend of that initial offer. You could do some legwork and find out about an actual real free cover that is going on. Maybe a club has one night a week where they do a free cover - who cares if some of the people that sign up know about it, at least you've delivered what you promised. You promised a free party, and you delivered it.

I'm also curious as to how underserved the "partying" niche is in Toronto... do these kids not already have access to information about the club scene, are they not already part of various FB groups, do they simply not know where to look, and so on.

If you hype the worlds biggest party and you deliver dog$hit on the backend then you're going to have a worthless list and the "flood" of traffic will become a trickle very quickly.

Good case in point of a bait and switch tactic that is going to fall flat on it's face: look at how Charlie Sheen made a post on his Twitter account looking for a Social Media intern. That lead to a signup page on Interships.com and about 75K people signed up. Well Internships.com paid like $100K for that ("6 figures" was the quoted price) - they made it look like a natural "call for help" but it was just a marketing campaign.

Now they have this massive list, and you could argue they got a great ROI ($1 and change per signup - not bad!), but in the long run tons of those people within the 75K are going to realize they got duped and they're going to bail from the list. Also, prospective advertisers are going to realize the poor quality of the Interships.com list and not want anything to do with it. This is extremely scaled up from what you're talking about and it still doesn't have legs in my opinion.

So create some real value on the front end of this thing and it could gain some forward momentum.

Ye maybe instead of promoting this so called "Free Party", i can be like free club ticket giveaways weekly, that way people don't get disappointed in the long run. Let me know what you guys think.

Why not gateway?, buy a party ticket(s) and place a countdown, let say you have 24 hours to get a free code. place like 10 party's a day... if you get enough traffic you will banking.

Consider twisting it so that you keep your promise about "free party".

Options; Spread the word around colleges, school, etc. that if they want to parties and x amount of people that you can organize this by send out emails to your list (make sure you dont send to all, as the people might not want to have 2K people show up to a party). Charge those people a price for you to send your email.

Problem; People that want free parties, are probably not going to have too much cash to spend, so these might not be the ideal people for "clubs" but for other college kids then it might be good.

Really good idea tho, im sure if you think it out some more you will find a good model.

Why dont you just use a Facebook Fan Page, make the user like before adding their email to the guestlist. Then you are getting likes + emails.
