How does selling a wordpress blog work?

Thanks for starting this thread. I sold my first website on Flippa last Sunday. It went for $300 quickly. I guess because it was a PR4 site with PR3 inner pages.

I'm planning on building autoblogs and selling quickly over at Flippa. Have you tried that? Any tips you can share with us?

I am wondering if you think that scrapebox is a must in getting backlinks to sell these sites? Is that what you use for your backlinks?

I can build nice looking autoblogs easy,but I am wondering what is the fastest way to monetize these site? Any tips to getting money to them fast?

A lot of questions, so let me try answer them all

@ TheStrangeFruit - not necessarily, quality is the most important factor. Streaming sites have died down since Flippa changed their rules, so wouldn't recommend those

Personally, Wordpress blogs with a decent PR and traffic have sold very well for me.

@ ChockFactor - yes, that is correct. Featured is the only add-on you would have to reapply (or Tweet, but never tried that). I only recommend featuring to get extra exposure, but if you have a lower end site, there is no reason to feature it straight away, let it run a day or so and if you get no bites, bump it to the front page

@ Rocsk79 - if you have a read of the flipping section I believe there was a thread where myself and some other members addressed this questions.

@ Thenayr - tough to say, although something around $3k could be about right.

@ Kudlit - congrats on your sale! I've never built an autoblog to be honest, I'm sure there are some great threads around regarding them though. When it comes to selling, I would emphasise the fact that it requires no work to add content and other than that just follow the general rules I outlined in Flipping 101.

@ DailyTrip - nice site. Yes, I would definitely recommend a front page feature, you've got a great site you want as much exposure as possible. I would also recommend reducing the listing time if you want to sell it asap.

@ GimmeTheLoot - Flippa does it automatically, and I use a plugin for FireFox (SearchStatus) which works great. Tami's recommendation looks good too.

@ Tami - I need to reply to your PM, bear with me

@ MakingFastCash22 - I like Scrapebox, but I'm not really a SEO guy. Works for me though. I mainly offer SEO services as an incentive to buyers to BIN a site.

As I mentioned to Kudlit, I have no real experience with autoblogs, there would be better people to ask than me

I go 3 days finishing around 10pm GMT on a Saturday or Sunday. No need for a longer auction with a cheap site, unless you have time to waste

Well that's what I love to hear because with the cheap sites it's all about seeing dollars coming in fast

well i got atleast 10 domains...Not having time to monetise it....i was using it for a while for some cpa..and zip submits...
Sites about 6 months old...got about 6k backlinks...Used xrummer...the right way...and Pr of 3-4...and some genuine link building probably 400-1,000

How much do you think thats worth if i want to sell it...Would you advse selling it..??Nice is health and fitness

Is it worth selling domain names alone on flipps, or are you always better putting content with it even if it is duplicate content?

Can you tell me why certain sellers always seem to get bids on high starting prices and always sell 70%+ of inventory? Whereas other sellers offer the same thing, advertise it the same (non-featured) and sell less and for less?

What you think is the best flippa tactic? lots of small value sites (eg $100) or fairly big $5000+ sites?

@ Nixnash - I have no idea how to value your site based on that information. There is a thread going for site valuations so post some more info there and I'll take a look

@ Gimme - thanks. I never sell undeveloped domains mainly due to lack of experience but I find I can sell a poor domain with content etc for far more than the domain alone

@ BillyRayValentine - goes back to my point about featuring in my 101 post. I always feature, you get far more exposure. You want to be the first site they see. There may be better options, but if they see you first then you could get a sale. Other factors: reputation, mailing a list of previous buyers (great way to clear inventory) or just luck

Depends on the individual. I'm personally moving away from the smaller flips and try sell higher value sites. I do tend to find with the lower value sales it is easier to upsell services at a later stage (e.g. if you sell 20 sites, that's 20 potential clients for the future), whereas a $5k sale is just one potential client who probably knows what he/she is doing already. Flippa's current pricing also eats into margins if you only sell low value sites - so you need to sell high volumes at $2-300.

EG. I have a website that is currently 1 month old, and it makes $300. Income is stable until now. I think I can get my income to $500 per month, but no higher. At what point shall I flip it? Now? When I get it to $500, but income looks declining?

I don't build sites from scratch, I buy established sites on DP that are under-value and build them up to save me the effort

Flip it at $500 when income starts to decline...

What you think about flipping warez-sites ?

I have a question. After lot of researching I found some keywords which I think can make good money. My question is:

How to decide whether to go for a Sales page (like the affiliate sales pages selling a particular product with testimonials and a cart) or a more of an Blog with some different posts with the more recent post being a sales pitch with an affiliate link.

With auction style listings on Flippa, do buyers often try to "snipe" a listing by waiting till the last moments like eBay, or is this not so common?
