Sure, in 2008 I started up a local retail pet food store and built a website that was integrated into the retail store and online. In 2010 my wife said it was consuming me, just 24x7 working it. Talking down distributor pricing, getting manufacturers to give me kickbacks for selling their products. I owned fedex got an account that gave me 32% off ground and 75% off express shipping (which enabled me to compete online). She forced me to put it up for sale, so I did, I was doing 650k in revenue after 2 years and about 120k in profit. I had 4 employees + myself and my wife. I worked a fill time job while I was building it. I listed it on bizbuysell for 275k and got a full price offer for it.
Sold the physical retail store, sold the online store - The person buying it was more interested in the online store - thinking he can grow it faster, but the majority of the revenue was from local residents. But I had days where I was shipping out 30-40 packages a day and having the Fedex guy stop by the store everyday to get the packages. Anyway 2016 the store is now doing a little over a million a year in revenue, according to the store manager. (my ex employee).
I still get my pet food at cost - part of the deal

It's still very much alive, I built a very good local customer base. When you have a dog/cat your a repeat customer every 3 to 4 weeks. I think the online business declined, I used to work the online really hard. The new owner is pretty much hands off now from what I heard, lives in a different state and the employees run the store. I just can't be hands off, just the way I am. I shop their every 3 to 4 weeks - replenishing my dog food. Always customers coming and going.

I just bought a website from there. All I can say is Im 100% glad of my purchase and already made my money from here on its just profit

Flippa is alive and kicking, no question about that.
Mate to be honest that sounds strange.. you just bought it and it already made it's investment money. Normally the sites are sold for their monthly profit multiplied by X amount of months. Of course unless you bought something really really cheap.

I guess I was not specific enough mate, I did not say I just bought it today. I bought it recently and yes I won it at a good price the owner and I worked out a good deal. And I consider this buy a diamond in the rough because its true you do need to be careful with flippa

I see now. I agree that there are many bad deals there, but after all this is free market. For example it's the same when you go to auction/market for used vehicles if you don't do your due diligence you can get burned easily. You did your job well and it worked out nicely in the end, I don't understand all the people that are complaining from the site, when they are the ones who need to do their job in order to protect themselves.
Flippa is just very big now where you have to be cautious with scammers and shysters more than ever before. You have those who will try to sell you just some method for thousands rather than the site itself making money. I dodged a bullet with one guy last year. Won the bid but noticed the person had folks questioning their past auctions being unrealistic with the amount of money ($3000-$4000/month and $100-$150 a video) they were making for selling custom marketing videos. When I looked into it further, there was no way the guy would have been able to make so many videos in a short time especially outsourcing it to just 1 person.
And he even made it apparent he was shady because after I turned down paying for the site, the site's domain to expired months later.

I think the market has matured. Previous flips with static landing page and a cute domain name won't work today.

Bizbuysell.com is a good place to get quality sales leads. The bizben.com site is just for local businesses in Cali so if it is a online business I would could with bizbuysell.com. I just sold a $140k site and a $20k site on businessesforsale.com so they have some good quality traffic. Flippa has a lot of traffic but most of it is broke people who want something for nothimg. You get less volume on sites like bizbuysell and businessesforsale.com but the buyers that do contact you are legit buyers who have money instead of some 16 year old on flippa who is going to say "just let me have the business and I will pay you out of the profits"

i an newbie and thinking of getting website...i have read some post which said flippa is good....what should i be doing...this post made me to think ...help needed.
Thanks for the input I'm going to give bizbuysell a chance lets see how it turns out I'm selling a local business so it may work out better. I checked flippa out and your description of it is spot on haha those buyers are the best let me just hand over my business to you for free.
