Fiverr is now charging $2 fee for each order

Hahah rip. I haven't used fivver in ages. Most of the "bargins" I can get else were cheaper

Highly unlikely but still possible. The reason might be to get rid of all of the cheap/spamy gigs that are drowning our more expensive/legit offers I mean I design Websites and offer SEO consulting I am not going to charge 5 dollars for that but there are hundreds who are and are doing a half assed job giving everyone else a bad rep. Still I dont think this might be the reason, just giving an alternative.

Agreed. And Fiverr is a jew company.. What a surprise , ha ! :D
Ok, I spit out my breakfast sandwich at this stupidity.

I have several expensive gigs building sites and PBNs, and don't think someone doing those jobs half-assed impacts me, I mean my offerings are hand built vs some spun content auto generated stuff. They were never the same customers, different strokes.

Fiverr worked like a charm in the beginning. Problem is they good greedy. Now I believe it's just a matter of time until they start going downhill.

Fiverr is a lot like Paypal, in that a lot of folks complain about it (including myself), but it's still the first to market, and most successful brand in its category, and thus isn't going anywhere. End of the day, Fiverr gets roughly 38 million sessions per month, which is even more than Upwork, and 7- 8 times more traffic than BHW. It has $26,000 in average daily revenue, or over $9.5 million per year. These are not the signs of a failing business.

Fiverr's basic value is still intact---even $7 is a low enough price point to attract the most lower-end gig buyers, without creating too much risk of chargebacks for gig sellers. Its other main value remains its creation of a simple well-branded service provider page for gig sellers that already has the sales funnel included, making set-up as simple as getting one's own affiliate landing page.

People keep forgetting these points, and keep asking for Fiverr to promote their gig pages for them as well. I say the site does more than enough as is, from being the leading branded platform, to its convenient landing pages, to the built-in funnel and so on. All it really needs is better real customer service and better quality gigs.

They need to make money too. As an entrepreneur, I understand their position.

Not trying to defend Fiverr, but $1 goes to PayPal, so they're left with $2 per sale, $1 from the seller, $1 from the buyer.

Yes, they started well and improved many parts as they grew further. Their main attractiveness was and still is the $5 deal which conveys the message of getting something done by a far low price! Nowadays not only they are becoming greedy on the commissions, but also they are motivating sellers to charge for each and every small detail and sell it as an add-on while years ago they were all included in the $5 gig.
They also try to promote some in-house sellers as professionals who charge 100s or 1000s for something which could be bought for multiple x $5 gigs!

If they go a bit further on charges, they will lose their advantage over other service providers! Today I personally prefer to have a text translated by another freelancer website where I'm more confident about the translation quality and profiles being genuine (considering that recently I observe many fake profiles offering translation services on fiverr)

Regarding the commission taken ... There could be a fixed commission of $1 either for $5 order or $50 order... A translator who translates 100 pages, should not be fined and should be appreciated by fiverr, because he/she has not disappointed the buyer and taken the job. (These days most sellers quickly ignore the job when they find it's lots of work or timeline is tight) By applying above he gets $49 and fiverr gets his fair share too! and no one will abuse the tipping option as well... because every order has it's fixed commission. And believe me buyers will be more eager to compensate the seller deducted commission by a tip (which no part is given to fiverr)

Finally Paypal has not increased the $1, so there's no point of increasing that fee! Unless they stop charging the sellers fee or compensate it in another way to either buyer or seller i.e. releasing the funds in 7 days, instead of 14 days or give some cash backs on multiple orders to buyers etc. (Just quick examples which can be modified or enhanced)

I never understood why people bought or buy SEO services on Fiverr. Take any business, stocks, whatever: If you want to make money, you have to invest money. If you invest no or little money, you'll see no or little returns. Basic math, that's how any business works.

That's why the rich get richer fast and the poor often stay poor. Making $50.000 is incredibly easy if you have $100.000.000, you just need 5% profit. Turning $1000 in $50000 is pretty much impossible, 5000% profit needed. A SEO business, blackhat business, may deliver a really nice ROI, but ROI means return on investment, not return on not investing. Not everybody has large sums to invest in content or links, but the cheapo approach is doomed from the beginning.

This sucks actually. I wonder what happens to Fiverr in the future if they stick with this. It's $2 processing fee on orders, I believe, under $50 dollars. If the order is above $50 dollars then it's a 5% fee, like it always was.

Anyway, other platforms will be getting some traffic now I imagine. Places like Seoclerks, Gigbucks, Fivesquid, Feehour, Digesale, Zeerk, Konker etc.

AND GOOD! It makes me happy that there are Many alternatives out there.

Not sure why they would move to this when I'm sure they are making plenty of money. I think this is going to be a test just to see if people will actually care about that additional dollar.

Their customer service to sellers becoming worse day by day and increasing the fee isn't fair at all, however they can do what ever they want because they are becoming more popular, powerful, dominant and I feel sorry about hard working poor sellers, better if they can find better alternatives.

So I finally just discovered this fee and reading through the comments here I was under the impression the fee was ONLY for when you paid with paypal, in order to help cover those fees. But, I only pay for gigs with credit I've earned from selling my own gigs and I am still being charged a $2 service fee. That is completely ridiculous if you ask me. There is no valid justification for charging me $2 additional dollars on something that doesn't actually cost them anything. I might be able to understand if they were actually covering processing fees from paypal or CC companies, but what exactly is the justification for this?

Fully agreed! The most funny part is that they charge $2 for the money you earned from selling gigs!!! Hello Fiverr! There is no Paypal thing here to make an excuse!!! (They didn't charge any fee for purchases using available balance, which was the right thing!)
Imagine you have struggled to deliver some work for small amount of $5, doing several revisions to make your customer happy to give you a 5 star too.. then they charge you $1 (That is 20% which is double the average %10 commission fee) so you have $4 .. now you want to buy a $5 gig from your balance.
you have to pay $7 (%40 more!!!!) and you know that the seller is also paying his %20!! So you need to deliver another order to gain another $4 to be able to buy the $7 gig. In other words you sell 2 gigs, you can buy 1 gig! (Nice Fiverr Promotion: Sell 2 , Get 1 !!!) fiverr is getting ~50% of your work as commission! From now on sellers will prefer to withdraw their fiverr earned money rather than spending it on fiverr! buyers will search for $5 gigs rather than more expensive gigs. buyers will tip less. Sellers and buyers will go to other platforms. Yes, fiverr is testing it, they get a lot of data from user behaviors (each user selling / buying history).. They analyze it.. They sure can see how many people proceeded with ordering and closed the page making an incomplete order when they faced the $2 extra fee..

Warning:

Now if you buy a $5+$2 item and cancel your order due to bad quality, delay etc. fiverr will refund only $5 (even if the gig has been purchased by your balance, so there is no paypal excuse either!!!), Yes they keep the $2 so called service fee, for the unpleasant cancelled service which has actually wasted your time!!!

Fiverr became very greedy.

$2 fee of $5 gig is 40% of order's amount.

Unbelievable!

Who can advise similar website, but with normal commission?

When they implemented the $2 fee recently it was only if you paid with Paypal. I remember buying with balance around that time and I wasn't charged the processing fee, like always.

But then a little time went by, and one day I went to buy something only to find they now charge the $2 processing fee even if you're paying with your balance. That's ridiculous. What's the justification I also want to know. Dick move Fiverr, dick move.
