First time trying to rank a site...

Hello everyone.

Thank you for checking out my thread. My intention is to implement my first SEO campaign. I have been reading up on here and several other places for several hours a day for several months and figured I need to go ahead and try my hand at what I have learnt. This thread will be my motivation to continue to try. I have a site I purchased a few weeks ago. It is a local hobby/enthusiast niche but I am also going to try and focus on some nonlocal KW's. My goal is to try to rank the website on the first page in the next month or two. I am not positive of monthly search volume (keyword planner says medium comp with a few hundred monthly searches for most the KWs I'll be targeting) but there is definitely more volume than it tells me.

Content: Well, I'm poor and this website probably will not make me money. So, I have been manually spinning articles than running them through plagiarism detector (bootleg copyscapes) until it no longer can detect where I got it from.. Getting my ranking to stick would be nice, but right now I just wanna see if I can run it up to a nice ranking and check how long it lasts. If I get penalized, I'll try to learn from it.

Tools: None besides free web applications. I will probably purchase SB and GSA after building when it gets time to start building my links (hopefully within the next week).

Game plan..

Step 1: Get website (check)
Step 2: Put content on website (current stage)
Step 3: Build tier 1 links
Step 4: Build some tier 2
Step 5: Blast t2
Step 6: Rank???

you got a solid plan but dont forget content is king, you might aswell invest some money on good quality articles on fiverr or here on the forum you can find good writers, when you copy content from somewhere else you aare better of just copying and pasting the whole thing just dont forget to credit the source, big sites do it all the time

Although you have have a good plan, i would suggest you not to use spinned articles as they badly hamper your business.

Honestly, I don't care too much about the quality of the content but I don't want unreadable jibberish. Would copying content and sourcing it make my SEO attempts less effective?

Edit: I am rewriting the articles until they come back as 100% unique. Again, I don't intend to use this site long-term or profit from it. This is just a practice site for me.

I think he is manually spinning the articles. So that is a lot different from automatic spinning, which really gives crappy results. But you can make good quality articles when you do manual spinning, or rewriting.

Just so you know the keyword planner does not show the competition of the keyword SEO wise, it shows it Adwords wise (ie how many competitors are bidding on the that keyword in relation to all of the other keywords on being bidded on Adwords)

For starting out, that's a good plan.

Now go and continue building backlinks. The only way for you to learn is to gain experience.

Its effective if it is readable.

1.4k words on 5 pages so far.

Trying to decide how much more content is necessary until I can begin link building.. ~3k total? Manual rewriting is obnoxious..

To be honest, I think 1k is enough to rank on main page. Start building inner pages, 500-1k words. Aim 25-50 pages.

Still have very thin content. Adding what I can but getting sick of rewriting articles!

About 2k words spread on 6 pages. Starting to build some tier 1's. I'm considering just spinning articles and throwing them on some tier 1's web 2.0's just to get things rolling . I have submitted a couple rewritten articles to some pr4 sites in my niche that allow you to "submit content" but they have to be approved.

Still working on content.. Probably going to start working on the tier 1's.

Started doing a few manual link submissions just for the heck of it. I'm indexed but 0 rank for any keyword I am targeting (just got indexed). I got 90 UV in about 4 hours off one of my link submissions, which was nice.

Done some manual link building and have content. Top of 4th page for one keyword top of 6th page for other. Medium comp KW's.

Do you have chimp rewriter? What I like to do is get an article from where ever, run it through word ai then touch it up in chimp, and spin it, for tier 1 links. I will only use about 5 variation of one article on tier one.

Recently I have been experimenting with on page SEO and word lengths. I just added a 2500k word article on my websites blog, then had it indexed in instant link indexer, and its flying through the serps with no linking or social signals but my own share to my personal fb wall. The keywords I was targeting are easy and medium, but with a good quality article thats more than a couple paragraphs you can rank 10-20 on that alone for a long tail.

I think if you want your pages to rank well you have to put in a good amount of effort on quality on the money site, ON EVERY page. A good quality article on your money site with good on page SEO can mean the difference between #8 and #1 when you start backlinking.

Are you inner linking your pages on your money site with any kind of strategy?

What you are going to put in tier 1 links and tier 2 links ?
