First time dealing with SEO

New to SEO here and need a sanity check. My Boss wants to pay a single consultation fee with zero ongoing costs. We don't have an in-house SEO person, but our site is already sitting in the 2nd position on page 1 and we have barely any competition.

Is a one-time strategy approach actually doable given our current ranking, or am I setting myself up for failure if I don't fight for a monthly retainer?
i would likely get the one-time consultation nd see what happens. if u are already at step #2 nd there is very little competition, u might not have enough work to warrant paying on a monthlly basis. make sure u know everything that needs to be known, nd then just monitor urself until something goes wrong.

If you’re already ranking #2 with little competition, a one-time strategy may be enough to get things in place.
I’d focus on monitoring rankings and competitors afterward.
A monthly retainer isn’t always necessary if the site remains stable.

If you already have #2 with poor competition, I would invest in a good roadmap or technical audit in exchange for paying the upfront fee and take care of the minor maintenance myself. Monthly SEO is not always necessary just because it is SEO.

with low competition and already page 1, a one time strategy setup could work fine honestly, seo isn't always a forever-retainer thing if the niche is easy. just make sure you get a clear roadmap and someone to check back in every few months, even if it's not a paid retainer

I think a one time strategy can work if the site is already in a strong position.I’d make sure the team knows what to monitor and what to do if the rankings start dropping
