Well it's now official.. I gave thugkilla a couple days to respond and saw that he has been signed on here since and still has not responded.

This is his profile here: thugkilla

    AIM screen name: Str8ruthl3ss

It is in relation to the thread that he had made on 4/17 here: Brand New Ipod Touches 8GB [$140-$150]

I talked to him for a while on aim about getting some ipod touches in bulk since he said he had a supplier and sounded legit. I even remember talking to this guy a few months ago in the past about something else. Everything he was telling me all sounded right and I didn't see any major red flags really.

He said he could supply 10 a day and wanted me to order 10. I told him I need to make sure he is legit first so he should sell me just 2 for now so I know everything is good. He agreed.

So on 4/26 I ordered 2 ipod touches for $270 and payed via paypal and got a confirmation number from USPS as well.

On 5/1 I got a package in the mail that didn't quite look right. So I opened it up and sure enough, no ipods. Instead I received some crappy Printer Plus manual book. I've included a picture below.

So instead of him sending me the 2 ipod touches, I got this crappy book instead.

Since he used a confirmation number with paypal, the item has been sent so there is not much they can do I guess. I filed a dispute and called them as well and they said they will be looking into it. But since there was no ebay sales page and it was just private sale, there is not much they can do I think.

This is when I realized that this scam was set up and planned from the very beginning. This is the worst scams can come. He originally wanted me to get 10 at first for $1300. But I eventually talked him into just 2. I was thinking I was protecting myself by only getting 2 at first (LOL).

You can now see he was clearly out to straight up scam the fuck out of people.

Yes, I have tried contacting him 3 different ways now and it's been 48 hours so he clearly is not responding.

I know I should have been more careful and not even do business with him in the first place, but in my mind I was being careful. But of course I was stupidly blinded by the opportunity.

Luckily I only lost $270 and not the full $1300.

By the way, anyone know anything else I can do maybe? Since I payed through paypay with my credit card I already called my bank and issued a chargeback so that is my only hope right now but it can take 30 days.

This thread is to warn everyone to STAY FAR away from the user "thugkilla". He is surely out to scam people in the first degree.

Either fess up dude or someone BAN this FOOL before other victims are taken!!

    Gotta hate those scammers.

Not to poke fun at your misfortune however, I can't help but laugh at the fact that he sent you a printer manual lol.

Best of luck for getting your money back!

I used to sell stuff on eBay...lots of stuff. At one point I was selling PrintShop software that I bought in bulk online. I bought 500 of them for $0.49 a piece.

I was selling this particular item on eBay for $5.00 a piece.

I'll never forget this one guy who bought it...pissed me off something fierce.

He payed via PayPal, I sent him the package (via USPS with delivery confirmation). Then he filed a complaint with PayPal saying he asked me for a refund and I wouldn't give it to him (that never happened, the guy never even contacted me).

He told PayPal he was asking for the refund because "the product was grossly misrepresented and WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE to what was described to him when he purchased".

Well, long story short, PayPal took the money out of my account, refunded him and I never got the software back.

Now, I don't really care because I only lost the $0.49 plus the $4.00 for shipping...whatever, no big deal.

It just pissed me off that the guy managed to get it for free by scamming the system.

The point I'm hoping you take away from this is that you should be able to get your money back from PayPal simply by being honest. You paid for one thing, and got another...enough said.

If PayPal won't give it back to you, the chargeback method will definitely get you your money back though.

Sorry to hear about this man, I really hope you get your money back. I'm sure like others said, with the credit card chargeback you should get your money. Although it is a hassle..

Look on the bright side though, when you DO get your money back you will have obtained a free printer plus manual :D

I say Dust the manual for finger prints :p

    Thanks for the input..

But the problem is, there was no ebay transaction with this so paypal has no sales page to go back and look at to see what the real item was since this was a private transaction.

Not a bad idea.. But actually I already packaged and returned the manual because this is what the bank wants me to do in order to issue the chargeback.

Well he didn't send an actual printer.. just a manual/book for a printer

Make sure you withdraw any remaining funds you have in your gaypal account immediately. You have broken their T&Cs by claiming a credit card chargeback and your account will be frozen and/or closed and you will lose your funds.

    * According to GayPal accepting their ToS (Terms of Service) in effect means you waive your rights to credit card consumer protection laws if you want to use their service, and that you may not issue a chargeback for unauthorized use of your credit card and PayPal account, or if you do, then they have the right to close your account.

I don't think PayPal actually goes so far as to look at the salespage. I currently have a membership site running, and when people ask for a refund because of "X, Y or Z", PayPal simply sends me an email asking me for information to dispute their complaint.

If I don't respond, after 10 days (I think it's ten days, I can't remember exactly), the customer automatically wins the dispute.

I'm 99% sure the only information they look to get is information from the people involved in the transaction (the buyer and the seller). Think about how easy it is to edit an eBay page, a website or a sales page.

I mean, it'd only take me 5 seconds to change my membership sites sales page to have different terms after a customer makes a complaint.

Besides, if PayPal DID have enough drive and integrity to check each and every sales page (if one exists) for transactions, do you really think they are going to believe this guy when he says "No, the deal was $270 for a printing manual...it was never used"

just when you thought things couldn't get any worse. you actually got a "PRIMER" manual for c++ programing, not a "printer" manual.

I was about to say the same thing! C++ Primer. Maybe he wanted you to learn how to make video games using C++.

On a serious note, paypal will refund you as the item was misrepresented. That IS the option you need to choose when asking for a refund

Well I was thinking the exact same thing.

When I called paypal I brought up all these same points. But they still claimed to say that without any ebay listing or website to go off of I am pretty much screwed and it will go in his favor.

Which means people like him could basically be running similar scams all day like this and never get caught. The only thing that could happen paypal said is if they see enough suspicious activity on his account they will ban him. I told them he is an obvious scammer and probably has multiple paypal accounts to use for this scam.

That's awful man, I'm sorry to hear that. Anyway, you should most definitely get it back with the chargeback method then.

    Man, what a c*cks*cker.

lol yeah thanks... but I actually had to return the book back to the return address since that is the process for the bank to get my chargeback.

Although, I am pretty sure the return address is a fake so I will probably just get it back.
