it keeps crashing every time and making me sick
the reason why im using it still is beacuse of addons and the bookmarks
no doubt that chrome will dominate the browser part too
Totally agree, I am a longtime FF user and with each update it is getting more bloated and my favorite extensions stop working (and can no longer be hacked to work) and the memory leaks are getting worse.
IE is even faster now and seems to have less problems.
I am hoping somebody will do a fork of FF and turn it back into what it was good at.
Firefox is a pain in the ass these days, not many options to move to though... Chrome is a Google spyware tool and the other's don't seem to make it up to the ease of use and simplicity of Firefox.
Although I have IE, FF and even FF Nightly installed, I generally use Chrome for 90% of my surfing (including BHW). I only use IE and FF for testing or if I want to have my google analytics open with one gmail login in one window while logged into a different gmail account in another window (browser).
I am a long time FF user. Firebug works, HTTP Live Headers work, Browsing works too. Running always at 100+tabs.(Typical IMer,Coder does that.) Doesnt crash at all. But yeah, FF is a memory HOG.
I think it is because of too many addons... I had similar problem with Firefox crashing all the time, I disabled addons and reset it, now I have no problems. By the way I am also, always adding new tabs so have at least 50+ tabs open all the time.
If you have newer computer hardware like a Solid State Hardrive. A 100 Tabs ain't shit! LOL. You probably have some virus/malware too. Atleast get a Solid State Hardrive! It will change your life!
There is still one other option: Opera .
IE is the worst browser.
FF close to it.
Chrome seems to be the best, but we are spied enough, no need to give them more data.
Opera is very good browser, so because what i wrote above, it's my favorite ;-).
You guys probably don't multi task much then. I sometimes leave tabs open for days, to later come back to them. Firefox typically hogs around a 1GB, sometimes up to 2GB of memory. Generally it's great so maybe sometimes I exaggerate a bit but I find that Firefox + Flash is the combo that makes everything crash. It would be nice if Firefox was more like Chrome, where if there's an issue, only the tab with the issue crashes...
To be honest, I switched from Firefox to SPWare Iron (a more google-less Chrome) due to constant crashes, even with no addons, on a fresh Win 7 64 bit installation. And my laptop is pretty powerful too.
I sometimes find myself using it for Firebug and Live Http Headers, but webkit (chrome's engine) is far better for browsing without issues.
