Unlike Chrome, with Firefox the service is optional and is meant for updates. Even if it does something else, at least it's not associated with Google, once again unlike Chrome.

Quite on the contrary, the latest Fiirefox is incredible and my PC's are pretty average. I noticed a major improvement in memory usage and speed on the latest update.
