Its not exactly link building, but link monitoring

I have always found that Google does not report backlinks accurately, thesearch modifier

Code:
link:mysite.com/page1.html

doesn't always bring back the full amount of backlinks in Google indexed pages, I have found that if you add a second modifier, you get a more realistic picture, try

Code:
link:mysite.com/page1.html -site:mysite.com

This will show external links to your site or page

:) As in using linkdomain:mydomain.com, right ?

Actually, using babypar's search parameters might also yield interesting results in Yahoo, i.e.

linkdomain:mydomain.com -mydomain.com

What other ways have you folks used, that you're happy with :p ?

Why not use Yahoo Site Explorer instead?

hi

using google for backlinks does not yield favourable results so using yahoo is a much better and a viable option

use the link command there

hope that would help:):)

thanks,
ankur

Google doesn't give you the correct info on purpose. It believes people will try to screw up its search algorithms.

But isn't that the reason why we are all here?

I prefer yahoo site explorer to see the amount of backlinks,

All know that google is pretty stingy when it comes to sharing how many backlinks you currently have.
Go look at google webmaster tool, you can find the backlinks "candidates" for your site.

I personally prefer opensitexplorer - much more accurate but it is a paid solution unfortunately.

I personally use bing instead of Google for a quick backlinks check....thanks for the share!

I use traffic travis for this purpose dont know it is accurate or not bus works for me.

Thanks for sharing dude. But do you know that there are really some very cheap tools to do these for you? LOL :)
