Fact Or Fiction Earnings?

How many times have you seen the gurutard courses that tell you with 5 minutes a day at your laptop you can earn $100k a year and then scale it up?

These claims are supported by the mouth watering, eye catching graphics of the earnings screenshots, that 'prove' this really does work.

Now this $10k course is on offer to launch at only $5k but you (Yes YOU) have been personally invited to get this training for the very special price of $2k.

How could you refuse?
After all, $225 per day on Adsense isn't to be sniffed at, especially if you hve several accounts / sites earning this!

Anybody can easily believe earning 225 USD with 532,800 page views in Adsense.
These aren't always changed using Photoshop, sometimes these images are edited via inspecting elements.

Now at first glance the third image might just be the bait to lure buyers to rush in.
However here's where you need to think logically about this.

If you've not noticed that huge increase, then you are going to be seriously scammed if you're not asking why the sudden increase of that scale.

Tools To Help Detect Manipulation

There are a handful of really useful sites where you can check to see if an image has been altered with or tampered. If you are ever unsure, check !

I hope this helps at least one person to avoid buying these courses from scammers.
If you've never seen these tools, have a look - You'll never know when they might come in handy to use.

I have no affiliation to any of these.

One of my favourites is the PayPal proof, just right click inspect element, change the balance, take a screenshot and bang you conned some newbies into buying a $7 guide on WF

If the scammer does a javascript/inspect element edit (with spelling check turned off) and isn't failing at elementary maths, there's no way you can tell the difference between a real and fake earning proof.

These tools can be good only if the image was edited with Photoshop or similar. Faking a screenshot like that isn't only harder, but it leaves traces too. Editing with PS only makes sense, if the scammer doesn't have access to a site, but he/she has screenshot(s) of it. Despite this i guess there are still ppl with no knowledge of the js edit, those for sure deserve to get caught. :)

I'd love to know more about this.

Can you please elaborate the story?
Elaborate on what exactly?
You can edit any page using javascript/inspect element, but do you seriously think that you can buy items at the lower edited price? lmao
It's only making visual changes on the page.
It was a joke, dude.

However when this dynamic/personalized pricing becomes reality, you will really be able to reduce the price on Amazon.

He might be able to sell you a discounted course, complete with screenshots as proof. :D

I know the inspect element thing but didn't really get the joke. He fooled himself to believe it costed pennies? o.O

Nah, I figured he sorted something out with the vendors to get a discount of something of that sort.

No you missed the point, I was actually demonstrating how you could do it. It's fake, come on keep up at the back lol!

This is a post that should be posted some place for all of the newbies to see. Sadly many people give up because they go broke trying to buy these courses and never getting a dime for their money. I am a believer in the more that we can enrich the more we are all able to influence the world in positive ways. I appreciate you taking the time to really dig into how to recognize fake earnings and the links to different sites. I am going to be doing some research to see what more I can learn about weeding out the fakes.

Great advice -- a lot of scams / questionable activity can be detected by checking for fake images.

Profile pictures on sites like Upwork are another type of image that you can do similar checks on. Download a potential contractor's profile picture, go to https://images.google.com, and then drag and drop the image into the search bar to reverse search the image. While some users who have stock photos are legitimate, it is one of multiple red flags that can help pick out scammers.

Also, anyone who hasn't read @Zwielicht's thread on avoiding scams on BHW (and in IM in general), check it out here:

But what if on any image you just change 1 pixel will it see that as a old 1 pixel change because in theory changing 1 pixel know makes that image new.

I dont think there is a app that smart to detect an old image from a pixel change.

The only passability is the app showing other images that might look like the new image made

Don' think application is the solution I think common sense and researc is the solution.

Fantastic post 10/10

Mister f

The bit that worries me ,a member fort you had a deal going from your HTML change price above, I can just see a none computer person hit buy it from PayPal and get charged full price.

Most ppl need to be more internet vigilant in general ..... Commen sense

Reverse image searching generally works fine for detecting images, even if there are minor to moderate alternations.

Tested a few images through images.google.com. Results here:

Google's reverse image search considered the image with the small dot to be identical to the original image. The significantly modified image was considered to be a different image; however, the original image was detected multiple times as a related image, which made it was very clear that the image had already been used elsewhere.

Edit: Just tested two even more significantly modified version and they both detected the original as a related image. Google images, at least, is pretty good at finding these.

This is a nice post, @MisterF. I just referenced it in the most recent post of my BHW safety thread.

Also, if you want to find fake images like a genuine badass... ;)

Interesting...

The only country where the dollar sign (or the cifrão as you used in the screenshot) is after the number is Canada, and even then it's only used occasionally.

Additionally, I'm calling shenanigans on the screenshot. You see, whenever you take a screenshot, there are usually compression artefacts noticeable at the pixel level surrounding most of the text and other objects ("funny colours"). Verily, this is true even in the case of your image as shown below.
Q4SVPtm

However, when I examined the numbers in your screenshot, I noticed that unlike the rest of the image, there were no compression artefacts. In fact, colour-wise it's very clean; too clean to have originally been part of the screenshot. Almost as if you used Photoshop and added a couple of clicks of the blur tool to the numbers, because even post-screenshot text in MS Paint will leave behind compression artefacts; albeit too many, making the edits even more obvious. Of course, the different fonts, sharpness, and the dollar signs after the numbers already gave away the illegitimacy of your screenshot.

Next, there's this bit, which I found to be the most hilarious.

Do you see it, yet? Let me zoom in a little more.

That little brown smudge leftover from your sloppy work.

Speaking of smudges, let's discuss the second screenshot of your PayPal activity.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you that you're missing the dollar sign entirely or that PayPal doesn't use a comma for the decimal point, but that's not the problem. The problem is that font isn't PayPal-sans, the special font Paypal uses on their website.

This is PayPal-sans:

Finally, there's also the fact that you appear to have saved multiple copies of your screenshot on your computer, as denoted by the (1) and (2) in your images' titles. According to the EXIF data of the images, you exported both of the images with an online program called Canva, a piece of graphic design and photo editing software.

My personal favourite at the moment is @TheKingGeek the third image, how much are them numbers skewed? Am I meant to fall for this utter shite and a hire car. Can't even inspect elements to make the font the same.
