Finally going to do something - Twitter journey

Hi Guys & Gals,

After bobbing along doing next to feck all (except for reading threads here and thinking 'that sounds great, I will do that' only to be distracted by a shiny thing a few seconds later) for a good few years I've finally decided to invest some time and money and see if I can't make some money.

After reading Wizard's inspiring journey thread I've decided to use twitter as the traffic source.

This thread is to keep me motivated and hopefully get some help when I'm stuck.

So far:

Bought 10 proxies
Bought 20 twitter accounts - one is duff but I won't be looking for a replacement as it took me too long to test it.
Bought a domain and am scraping content
Got a 'theme' set up so mobile looks good but will tweak and test as time goes on
Will be buying Followliker or Massplanner - prolly FL
Will be buying a VPS

Monetization - adsense at first but will test others too

Think I've already fucked up with one account though. Was going to log in and set up a boi etc but realised I hadn't set up the proxy in my browser properly so it looked like I was logging in from my own pc.

Just to show how noob I am can someone confirm that to stay 'safe' with accounts/proxies etc. the best way to log into multiple accs from same pc is to clear cookies then set up proxy then log in ... is there anything else I need to do on that front?

Will update as things get moving.

Good luck, im doing something similar, until you boight fl or mp check in the member download section there is a bot there where you can add proxy/account in bulk and login safe to twitter

I haven't got any windows machines at present, only linux but thining of installing win on an old laptop ...mmm.

update:

bought my vps.

Will probably spend the next couple of days figuring out how to use it properly.

The more I think about this the more I realise two things:

+ I know next to feck all about niches; what's profitable, what's not, what traffic will convert etc
+ I know next to feck all about marketing

That's the point of the journey I suppose - to learn what I can through it and hopefully end up making some money.

Think I've got my head around the vps thingy and how to log into it/use it etc.

Bought Followliker and installed it on the vps.

Can see I'll need to spent a little time working out how best to use it.

Will start playing with it this weekend, not bothered at this stage if I lose some accounts due to stupidity.

Update:

Realised I've fucked in a few ways, that's ok though as this is a learning experience.

Decided on a niche - it's saturated but I'll see how I go. It's really interesting looking around at what others are doing and I've got a few ideas from that.

Still playing with followliker - that blank screen when you first start off is quite intimidating - but beginning to understand it. Thinking, long term, of coding my own FL solution ... will see about that.

Will set up a new domain today and will test two types of landing page.

First, need to get scraping users to follow and get some tweets ready to go.

Before I started this I didn't realise how much I didn't know ... I'm just beginning to find out how much of an ignoramus I am.

After feeling almost completely overwhelmed for a couple of days things are beginning to crystallize.

I've started coding my own solutions for scraping users and tweeting. People may think this is the wrong way to go but at least I will know exactly what it does and exactly how it works (or doesn't). My solution will be fairly primitive at first but I'm happy with that.

In know I've bought FL but I can still use that to get things started.

Next couple of days will be spent finding content, building tweet lists and images.

Every day is a school day.

UPDATE:

Got the following scripts working, all still rudimentary:

• scraper - pulling 3000 users every 15 mins
• follower - just blatting through my list and it gets to following 120 users before the api returns an error code and stops me following more people; will test with various time delays etc to see if I can get over the 120 limit
• tweeting - not tweeting links to landing page yet as still testing

Landing page is set up and ready to go.

Need to build a list of 'money tweets' next and figure out best times/frequency to tweet them.

Next challenge will be to automate all this ...

Making my own is pretty trivial and it gives me complete control of what I scrape. I'm sure some will see it as overkill given that FL has it's own built in scraper but I'm happy with my decision.
