Few Onpage SEO questions (tags & metadata)

Haven't done SEO in 2 - 3 years so excuse my silly questions.
I'm working on my website. For the index page so far I have this:

- 300 to 400 words of text with my main keyword 2 to 3 times in it
- 5 H2 titles, including a slogan placed fairly high on the page. Is 5 H2 tags too much?
- Meta tags inc. title
- Images in a slider, all with alt
- Logo with alt

Now the next thing I'm struggling with is I'd like to place an H1 on the index page as well but there really isn't a logical place to put it. How do you guys go about this? There's just some templates that don't have the structure to logically place a keyword H1 anywhere. Can I leave it out? Should I place it somewhere below the H2's? Should I put the entire slogan in H1 instead of a single KW somewhere? Or would it be ok to replace, say 2 H2's with H1's?

Another question: the meta data (apart from Title ofc) can be the same on every page, right? Or is it better to change the meta description on contact page to something related to contacting me?

Make the H1 tag into a page title or even site title in the header dude. You can leave the H1 tag out if you like, its not a huge deal, but every little ranking factor is important, try put in as much effort as you can without making it look like spam.

Personally, I'd make each meta tag different. If you can't think of original descriptions, just leave them out and let Google create its own. Your descriptions are for your benefit though, they encourage higher CTR rather than giving you more rank juice.

If you are using Wordpress, your page title is the H1 tag, so no need to add one, but if not, it's best to add one at the top of the article before the h2 tags.

Don't use the same meta for all pages, use some variations and if the pages are closely related, make sure to link from those pages towards your most important page.

You have done most things correctly, but always make sure and maintain that put different meta details in every page of the website. Title and H1 tag is very important in the SEO so always maintain that with proper manner.
