So I got sent a gift from a friend in China to the United Kingdom
Yes it was a gift it had a value of $30 and I am being asked to pay £15.68 two weeks later
£4.93 for taxes and £10.75 for an administrative fee.

I wouldn't mind having to pay the £4.93 for taxes if I owe it but £10.75 for an admin fee.

at no point in the transaction and subsequent delivery was any contract for a clearance administration fee charge
    between Fedex and my self

The gift was delivered and nothing else happened until two weeks later when I received the letter asking me
    to pay the £15.68.

I have looked on HMRC website about this and they state "may have to pay Customs Duty on goods with a value that exceeds £135"

also once I sign for it doesn't the item become my property and no longer theirs so there for they cannot charge and further charges?

Please can someone tell me whats best to do thanks.

Fuck them. You've already received the delivery, however they may take further action if you don't pay them.

So ask yourself is it really worth the trouble for £15.68?

that's pretty messed up, least next time you know to declare the value as less than 15.

Thankyou all for your help I rang fedex and got put through to customer service where I was then sent to paying the invoice
I just told the person on the other end (Adam) I wasn't happy paying the administrative fee
He then said as a gesture of goodwill we will only charge you £4.93
I didn't need to quote anything about not being in a contract about paying this fee under UK law
So just shows how easy it is to save a £10 that could have been wasted thanks all for the help
