I have never advertised on FB I have only ever used adwords. How does it compare and is it worth looking into?

It's different from Google search. More like Google display network advertising - it's good for branding. My experience is to teach people on FB or GDN what to google later.
Eg. if you offer 'green java coffee with delivery', than this message should be on the banner or FB ad.
After a while (2-10 weeks), people will use Google search for the search query 'green java coffee with delivery' and some will convert.
So, my advise - use FB to teach people what to search for :)

On adwords, you pay like $10 on insurance keywords. On FB, with the right targeting, you can get clicks for as low as $1-$2 in the insurance niche.

Facebook is better for creating brand awareness and Google for getting instant sales

    Hello Members,
The Facebook ads creation process is different from Adwords. You target people's interests rather than their search phrases. You're targeting people based more on who they are than the information they're looking for right now.
Facebook tends to show ads based on a user's like, while Adwords focuses on keywords. The demographic data on users may also be more complete, so targeting can be easier on Facebook.

But the thing that stands out most is the average cost: Facebook ads, on average, are a third of the cost of Google Adwords.

I hope this information is useful for all.
    Thanks...

Yeah, definitely depends on what your end goal is. If you're trying to get sales - Google is the way to go. Brand awareness - Facebook. However, I've run successful Facebook campaigns that have translated into conversions. Google just does it in a more cost effective way.

Yeah, adwords is way more targeted. Facebook is nice because of the demographics, but still, there's a lot more people that will see your ad on Google rather than on their Facebook newsfeed.

The main difference to me is that Facebook has more 'impulse' buyers than Google and that takes a different approach.
Google might be more targeted but is also way more expensive..

Facebook marketing it's not something mechanic, buying an ads u will drive near to 0 leads, it should be something more creative and multi-step

From my experience, both work really well, but mostly in different niches. There are niches where you can get a lot of conversions on FB traffic but few from Adwords and Vice-Versa.

You get what you pay for. Facebook is good for branding but don't expect it to be your main source of income. The same can be said for Google's sales. You want to be able to hook repeat customers to continue to buy from you over and over again, so using both platforms will help you gain repeat customers, the rest is up to your targeting and retargeting sales copy.

    Dear Soulcollector,
I respect your opinion and experience but don't know if I can agree with:
"Facebook is good for branding but don't expect it to be your main source of income."

If you mean that you shouldn't expect it because it is hard and takes a lot of dedication to make campaigns profitable then I agree. Only with the right mentality and never giving up you'll be able to see good money.
But if you mean that there is not really a lot to earn I disagree. As a supplier of Facebook Ad Accounts I just see to many people doing only Facebook and earning really well, Marketers and Companies. A mix of both Facebook and Adwords will definitely be the best to do, like you mentioned ;)

Adwords has better sales while Facebook is only targets people and though most of them are non buyers on facebook and everyday they see the same ad.

On Google when someone searches your ad is shown to them, so a lead can occur with such types.

The main difference I guess is the cost and the value you get from every $ you spend but all it all both are good in a different way. If you're used to adwords and you get good return from your effort then I suggest you continue using it. But while using it, you can also try advertising on FB especially if you have enough budget to go for the two. That way you can cover whatever adwords missed and get more sales.
