Anyone else noticing Reels reach tanking this week unless you're pushing heavy ad spend behind them? My organic reach dropped ~60% overnight on pages that were previously consistent.

Algorithm update or just me?

The decline in reach of Reels can stem from algorithm adjustments, changes in content distribution mechanisms, or increasing competition on the platform.
Instead of focusing on external factors, you should prioritize building quality content, optimizing the opening, increasing viewer retention, and maintaining consistent, natural engagement. This is a core element for improving long-term distribution.

a lot of creators are seeing sudden drops in Reels reach lately, likely due to ongoing algorithm adjustments and increased competition. It doesn’t necessarily mean you need more ad spend, but engagement quality and retention matter more than ever right now.

Looks like another algorithm push to favor paid distribution and stronger signals. I’ve seen similar drops this week too. Not just you.

not just you, seeing drops too

usually not an update
most of the time it is retention

if your 3 second views or average watch time dip, reach can tank fast

i noticed the same drop on a few pages recently, organic reach just tanked out of nowhere and then slowly came back after a few days

Reels' reach may decrease due to algorithm changes and increased competition; therefore, prioritize quality content and organic engagement to improve long-term distribution.

You’re not alone — many creators report similar fluctuations in Facebook Reels reach from time to time.
It’s often linked to algorithm testing or temporary distribution shifts rather than a permanent penalty.
Organic reach can swing sharply during these updates, even for previously stable pages.
The best move is to keep posting consistently and watch trends over a few weeks, not days.

Huh, I haven’t noticed that on my pages yet, but maybe it depends on niche or timing. Could be an algorithm tweak affecting some accounts more than others.

It may not be due to an update. Sometimes ads have issues with delivery and audience reach. The problem lies with the ads themselves, not the update.

I've encountered this before, but things have been fine lately. Perhaps your ads have reached saturation; you could try running about 5 different content sets for comparison.

No, it's not just you. I've also seen some strange fluctuations lately. Usually, these sudden 50-60% drops are either due to a small algorithm tweak or the content not holding up well enough on its initial distribution test. I don't just look at a single week anymore. When I look at the 2-3 week average, it usually recovers a bit. Reels is quite volatile these days, to be honest.

The recent decline in engagement on Reels often stems from algorithm adjustments and content saturation, but the key to overcoming this barrier is account strength and trust. Instead of relying solely on advertising budget, an account with a clean track record, genuine engagement, and unique content will be prioritized for stronger distribution. If your content is becoming monotonous, refreshing your creative thinking combined with strengthening your account's "health" will help you break free.

Yeah I noticed the same organic reach is dropping fast, now it feels like you need ads to get any real visibility.

Many content creators are seeing their reach on Reels decrease due to algorithm changes and increased competition, making the quality of engagement and viewer retention even more crucial.

Looks like a temporary distribution rebalance

When engagement velocity dips even slightly, Reels can lose momentum fast until a new pattern stabilizes
Usually normalizes after a week or once a few posts re-establish strong watch time
