I have noticed two types of people.

Some just move fast , take action , and figure things out as they go.
Others spend more time planning , trying to get everything "right" before starting .

I have been on both sides and honestly , over-planning has slowed me down way more than mistakes ever did.

At the same time , rushing without thinking can also backfire .

Feels like there is a fine line , but hard to get it right .

What's worked better for you personally ?
Act fast or plan it out first ?

Middle ground is all you need. You can't plan out everything realistically, and you can't do everything fast, as there will be things you have no clue about. Take the best of both worlds, at a pace that suits your style.

Sincerely both works
You shouldn't just do them too.much
Or rely on one model to otfen

Mix of both works best. starting first with a basic plan is better than overthinking than you can adjust as you go.

Overplanning has always slowed me down. I wont stop again so I combine quick execution to take action and prevent work from taking longer than necessary. At the same time, this action becomes my plan, freeing up my schedule and allowing me to focus on important things.

MVP`s is the way to go, checking the market before building features fast.

Retardmaxx. Stop thinking. Ship fast, ship a lot and you'll see for yourself. With AI nowadays your real edge is speed now.

Fast execution with directional planning wins every time in my experience.

The trap of perfect planning is that you're optimizing against an imaginary opponent. You can't know what will actually break until you're in the field. Every plan survives until first contact with reality.

That said, "move fast" without any framework just creates a mess you spend 3x as long cleaning up. The sweet spot:

- **5% planning:** Define the goal, the first 3 steps, and your abort criteria
- **80% execution:** Ship fast, learn from what actually breaks
- **15% iteration:** Fix based on real feedback, not hypotheticals

Over-planning is usually a disguised form of fear. If you're on your 4th version of a business plan and haven't launched yet, the plan isn't the problem. The bottleneck is the discomfort of uncertainty — and more planning is just a way to delay facing it.

Personally, over-planning has cost me more than every mistake I made moving fast combined.

Fast execution all the way.

Planning's important when setting up your foundation (like choosing the right web infrastrucutre or email provider... kind of a pain to switch later), but I've made the mistake of overplanning things when I could have figured out it was a waste of time had I just launched.

Plan your foundation carefully.

Execute fast and messy because it's always easy to iterate (content, etc.)

did you find that over-planning was more of a problem at the start or did it persist even after you got more experience?
