Fan page vs. personal page question

Hi, I looked through the first two pages to see if this has been asked already but I didn't see anything.

I'm wondering if anybody has any thoughts on whether I should be using a fan page or a personal page. I'm using it to promote my blog. The idea is I drop a status update saying "hey bla bla bla check out my new blog post" along with the url. People follow it, read my post, maybe click on an ad and I make some money.

I can't see any advantages of doing this with a fan page? What does BHW think?
I wouldn't be violating fb's TOS as I'm not selling any thing, just dropping links to my personal blog. And, although the name is fake I'm representing myself as a person not a business.

I've just never had a fan page before so it's kind of hard for me to weigh the pros and cons. Any thoughts?

Well fuq it. Guess I'll have to find out on my own. I'm going to go with the personal page for now. Something pretty neat is that supposedly I can convert my personal page to a fan page and all my 'friends' will turn into people who 'like' me. Pretty cool way to turn 5k friends into likes. Anyone with knowledge about having a fan page is welcome to comment on this.

I suggest creating a fan page.

It's a lot easier to get fans, than friends.

You can easily buy fans too.

the only difference is you can only get up tilll 5000 friends to your profile ..

if you have a fanpage there is no limit.

You should create the fan page and have lots of fans through it.

I'm going to go with a personal page until I reach 5k or until I see some other advantage to using a fan page. I'm not interested in purchasing fans right now as I'm getting friends for free.
