Hi,

I saw a method on here about posting an ipad on CL, and responding to replies with things such as "Hi, Unfortunately the iPad has been sold but I got mine here [affiliate link etcetc]. I can't find the thread at all anymore so am posting here.

I thought I would try this and posted an ad for an iPad 2 for a low but realistic price. I stated that I won it in a competition and don't want it. I have had 150+ replies in about 4 hours. I have replied with each one saying that unfortunately it has already been sold, but they can try enter the same competition I did and give them a link to my website. My website has an apple like wordpress theme, with an iPad2 review and an article on how to get an iPad for free. I stuck a leadbolt content locker on it, thinking I would get a few conversions. Out of the 150+ people I have replied to, I have had 0 conversions from leadbolt, and only a handful of clicks. Is this because leadbolt surveys suck and take too long?

I tried this method purely to test it, and already had hosting an a relevant d.o.t.c.o.m. domain name, but would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance,

Ewaffles

Filling out a survey isn't a competition.. People aren't dumb these days.

I would think of a better line to bait them, and then send them straight to the ipad offer.
(just my advice)

The method you refer to is very very old now. I really doubt it works in its original form anymore which was the post you referred to. Just imagine how many ads on there are using the same method and sending similar replies to the CL user. They just wont bother doing them. You need to think of something different to the others to tempt them

CL users are unfortunately getting smarter and smarter every day. i used to do this method but its not even worth it anymore. conversion rate is too low. i posted manually and my highest day was $49 but you will soon find out that you will keep getting the same leads over and over again, that is if you keep posting in the same sections. most of the leads are not people who actually want to buy the ipad for themselves, but they are re-sellers who are interested in buying the ipad and then selling it on ebay or whatever. with that being said, these leads are much smarter then average people. and, why would you send them to a content locked web site? that does not make much sense at all. send them directly to the ipad cpa offer

First off don't be discouraged, I know the results suck. But like everyone said I think people on CL have gotten smarter. Second, don't send them to a content locker offer...if you sent me to a content locker offer it would send off an alarm it's a scam or something like that. Send them directly to your offer...Here are some general tips you might find helpful (because I tried the method you just tried without any luck, but came up with another idea)

1. See if you can find a way to leave a number..(can you get a forwarded number or text only line? It will make the ad look real.)

2. Where did you post? Post in multiple areas around the USA..and try something other than Apple products, because everyone is after those.

3. Don't respond to these people right away..so it seems real.

Good Luck

Agreed. I've used this method, but you have to put a spin on it or it won't convert. Waiting to respond makes it seem more real but also makes people more anxious and more likely to do just about anything to get their hands on (insert tech item here). I'd also go with a less known tech item, because iPads are getting saturated. Also, you need to test out landers and offers to understand which will convert and which are too much work for people to bother with.

The method didn't failed. Try different twist and offer and i am sure you will make money. For example: Try those free Lipstick Zip/Email submit offer and tell you own this and have a plan to gift it to your GF. Unfortunately you guys broke up this morning. Girls are easier to convert.

You placed a content locker? That's fail because the trick is to get them to that ipad offer page but you tricked them and directed them to something else than supposed.

Thanks for the advice. Ok yea thinking about it the content locker is a bad idea. The content locker offer is actually to win an iPad though so I thought it would work :( Guess not. Going to try and think outside the box for this one and see what I can come up with.

Thanks!

You got to be original and give them something believable.

Tell them your one sold the moment you posted the ad but you
will have another one in a day or two.

Keep this to yourself I've found a website with a glitch, It seems like they're
sending these out to everyone and their uncle.
We've been getting them for a week or so now but don't know how long it will
be before they patch this as someone's going to notice soon.
It seems as if they only send out one to each zip block as we tried a few from the
same address and only got one.
Like I said keep it to yourself I've got my mates all over the country on this one
and we want to rip a hole in this while it lasts.

And sit back and wait as they forward the link to everyone on their friendslist.

Don't follow blindly of the method. Think OUT of the box. Give it a TWIST. If still can't work, then got to find other AD place rather than sticking at CL.

Try responding to the emails manually at first. Yes, it takes a lot of time, but you are able to modify it for each person. You will see higher conversions than when you automate it.

This method still makes a drop dead easy $10/day. Some days get as high as $40 manually. Once you automate the process you're looking at $200+/day.

I am posting on a UK alternative to CL which is much more popular over here. Thank you for the suggestions. I have brainstormed some really interesting twists but going to let it cool down for a day or 2 before I try something similar :)
