Use common sense. If you are making so much money would you go around teaching how to make money and EARN a commission from each sales you refer?

Sounds like snake oil salesmen. I have been duped by one ebook, promising me that I'd earn $50 a day easily. Easy for the ebook author because he has my cash now

Let's just take John Chow as an example, there really is a lot to learn from this guy. Obviously, his niche is going to be about how to make money as an internet marketer. If you visit his website and sign up for his newsletter, you will see how this method actually translates to success. It is a numbers game with him...he gets X amount of visitors to his site and of those, he gets plenty of signups. What you will see is how he creates a successful email marketing campaign that works on autopilot using email auto-responders (of which he is an affiliate of).

That brings up another point. If you notice, John Chow is an affiliate marketer for everything that he promotes on his website, in his emails, and in his videos. Everything from hosting to email, website design, downloads, etc. What you will also take notice of is how he has a structured email marketing campaign (often employing 10-14 emails spread out over a few days/weeks) that works on autopilot. His website also features advertisements that are placed in optimum positions to maximize views, clicks, and in turn earnings. Try to leave the site or scroll down and you'll encounter pop-up ads/ email capture (simple Wordpress plugin integration). These are all methods that we as marketers should employ in our IM campaigns.

While these guys may or may not drive Bentleys or a drop-top Benz isn't really an issue. The illusion of affluence and looking professional is often all one needs to be able to sell or promote those products and courses. Some guys are total fake bullsh*t but guess what - fake bullshi*t sells! Ever try to buy a car? The salesmen are trained to blow smoke up your a$$.

Hats off to them for being creative in their endeavors and using those same methods that time and time again produce results for themselves. They created the online personas. They created earnings (real or fake). They took action and risks which is more than I can say for all the lurkers on IM forums that just read and don't believe in this as a source of financial freedom.

To quote a popular movie starring Kevin Costner about baseball being played out in a remote cornfield: "If you build it, they will come". These guys built something and people do come. They have their niche and they are profiting from it.

That's exactly what this IM thing is all about. While his method in the book isn't necessarily making you that easy $50 a day, those ebook sales are probably earning him an easy $500 a day. With that $50 investment, you learned 2 ways to make money daily or 2 separate income streams. You learned the method as taught to you in the book and you learned that you can sell ebooks for profit (Amazon Kindle ebooks are great BTW). I think that is money well spent.

I don't get it. Why not just pay the fucking <$50 to have a real fake cheque made... Or is his marketing point to gain more back links that are hidden from most newbies and only laughed at by seasoned pros? Thus increasing his profile with a shit photoshopped photo?

Some of the previous posters were either sarcastic or just dumb . I wouldn't classify at least 3 people on the list as Guru because most of the time they aren't selling shit and just posting helpful stuff for newbies and experienced marketers alike.

Luke Peerfly: Isn't he the guy that owes the Network Peerfly ?? If that's the case he is obviously rich making money from affiliates since Peerfly is a large and respected network

Finch Sells: I believe he is a moderator for Stack That Money and he always post like case studies over there... I would have to check in my free time just to confirm but he should probably be making money.

what they do is no different than a lottery.The lottery promises you millions of dollars if you get all the numbers right for a few bucks.But in reality the lottery owner always wins from the lottery ticket sales.

John Chow's slogan is "I make money online by teaching people how to make money online."

So it's true that they make their fortune from selling courses and flogging affiliate offers.

Charles Ngo is legit, however bear in mind that the stuff he is teaching.. well THAT is not how he made all his money.

They probably have some success, but likely sell "secrets" that are not going to work for most people. It's similar to PUA.

How about Zach Crawford? I would consider him a guru but he himself probably wouldn't as he doesn't like the title. But he's definitely legit. He actually use to post here years ago.

The last time I saw john chow on the warrior forum to promote itself.
But I do not know who made real money or play money.

OP Leave Affiliate Marketing if its not your Cup of Tea.
I too Left it after trying and earning very little.
I shifted to Kindle and Youtube Video Making.
You can earn $50-$100 easily by Kindle and By Youtube it depends on How much your video gets Popularity.

Well, they are expert marketers and they market themselves, mainly to newbies. The IM world is an El Dorado, a literal Gold Rush, many will lose, but some do make it. They are the ones who just seem to have made it. I really don't believe these guys make millions every year. There are, however, expert guys who really make a lot of money. BUT, you won't see these guys with fake cardboard checks, sleazy commercials and stupid tshirts. They are online working, managing teams, creating products and so on.
It's the same with the personal development craze. There are a lot of gigantic losers out there who come and teach people how to be successful in life. It's a circle jerk off competition and your best bet is to stay on the sidelines and laugh at the competitors. Yeah, some making money, but is it really worth it?
