This is one fucked up story, so you might wanna pull up a chair, whilst I tell you all about it.

A while back last year, I won a new client, through word off mouth. Everything was going well at first. I even tried to educate my client, as I thought that's what was been a good seo expert was all about. I tried to offer transparency in my work.

However, one thing about the client, is that I had a "gut instinct" that something just didn't feel right. His behaviour was changing, he was becoming more cocky, very passive agressive.. was even getting to the point, he was trying to tell me how to do SEO.. ironically, he thought he was a SEO Pro, when he found out how to use Majestic.. which is basic stuff but anyways.. his cockyness grew, he was even using serpbook on my recommendation but for some reason.. he started acting like he knew more than me. Then he all off a sudden want me to report to his friend.. which I said no too.. as I made the deal with him, and he was changing the spec off the job wanting more reports and also to report and chase up his friend.. which at the time, I said fuck this and got rid off him.

Anyways, through SEMRush, I was killing it for my client, he was doing well.. but he just got too cocky.. and now guess what, his sites has fuck all traffic, like nothing..

Anyways, his best friend, now seems to be working a digital marketing managers job.. so out off curiousity, I check his CV out.. on his CV, this stupid fucker, has copy and pasted half out what i was writing to my client , when he requested what had been done.

He claims he was the digital marketing manager for this site. He claims he done all these changes, he claims he done so well at SEO... I couldn't believe someone just copy and paste a conversation like that and then bang it on his CV.. He seems to be trying to imitate me and my ways and how i act.. but one thing I noticed, is that he seems to be able to talk the same game.. which no doubt he heard through phone calls to his friend (who was my client).. but one thing that's letting him down, is his results. He claims all these beautiful things and adds a lot of 672% growth ... when if you look at semrush, in the period he claims to be "digital marketing manager", his growth went to nothing..

It's really pissing me off, I feel like he and my client where been sneeky fuckers and now that gut instinct feelling I had but couldn't quite put my finger on, now comes to light.. I also feel like he is an imposter. I mean the conversation with my client when he asked about growth, and what had been done etc.. his best friend just copied and pasted it onto his CV and my clients allowing him to do so..

How would you act in this situation..

One hand I'm pissed I have an imposter.. secondly, I feel my client was playing me, to help his best friend. Again, I am not happy, as the stupid fucker tried to mess my shit up because I wouldn't work with him any longer.

    4 Things I learned today...

    1) Stop educating the client

    2) Never Trust the Client

    3) Always have contracts with the client - including NDA.

    4) Be careful the client isn't trying to help his mate by been a little fucking rat imposter.

Hah, though I do not have this exact same experience I had my fair share of asshole clients when I started out. In this situation, seeing as you know how to rank and know the niche why not get all of his competitors and contact them all and offer to rank them as you did this dick client and really stick it to him by making his competitor the unbeatable king with your name on the work?

Success is the best revenge, enjoy :)

Any advise on the best way to execute this would be appreciated.. if you don't wanna share publically, always open to a pm..

I have serpbook reports too for the time period where the client was ranking and doing well.. however, his imposter mate, seems to claiming my glory but if you take a look through semrush, he went to fucking shit again.. what a load of assholes! i mean, even copy and pasted my exact words on his fucking cv and made it public on his facebook profile, wtf..

fucking amazing at how low some people will go and talk shit .. feels so strange to have an imposter out there, who has actually landed a digital marketing managers job, ripping some poor soul off.. all because he's a loser fucking wannabe

Well, that bit is down to you, just use whatever technique you use to close a SEO deal, you have proof of success in the niche so just show what a client can expect when they hire you.

Or maybe "rank and rent" build your own site that outranks this dick on his own brand and rent it to him for stupid money or sell those leads to his competitors, essentially I would find a constructive and creative way to fuck this guy over, make his competitors rich and pay yourself what you deserve.

    Good luck :)

The guy is a total wacko, forget about it and move on with your life. There's no point sinking any more of your time or energy into it.

Only thing that's stopped me, is the email marketing laws.. any advise would be appreciated on this.

I do agree with you though on finding a constructing and creative way to get revenge on this guy.. just feels so fucking crazy to have an imposter out there.. like so fucking crazy... i still can't believed he has talked himself into a new digital marketing job through this though.. seriously, wtf! this business needs a decent HR department, doing background checks.. but then again, he put his "1st digital marketing managers job" as my previous clients site.. then since they are best friends, he must be giving him a false reference.. this shit is just fucked up.. you think in 2016 with all these laws and things getting stricter and more controlled. How a little rat imposter like this, is so easily able to lie on his cv and get a new digital marketing managers job. fucking crazy!
