This is one fucked up story, so you might wanna pull up a chair, whilst I tell you all about it.
A while back last year, I won a new client, through word off mouth. Everything was going well at first. I even tried to educate my client, as I thought that's what was been a good seo expert was all about. I tried to offer transparency in my work.
However, one thing about the client, is that I had a "gut instinct" that something just didn't feel right. His behaviour was changing, he was becoming more cocky, very passive agressive.. was even getting to the point, he was trying to tell me how to do SEO.. ironically, he thought he was a SEO Pro, when he found out how to use Majestic.. which is basic stuff but anyways.. his cockyness grew, he was even using serpbook on my recommendation but for some reason.. he started acting like he knew more than me. Then he all off a sudden want me to report to his friend.. which I said no too.. as I made the deal with him, and he was changing the spec off the job wanting more reports and also to report and chase up his friend.. which at the time, I said fuck this and got rid off him.
Anyways, through SEMRush, I was killing it for my client, he was doing well.. but he just got too cocky.. and now guess what, his sites has fuck all traffic, like nothing..
Anyways, his best friend, now seems to be working a digital marketing managers job.. so out off curiousity, I check his CV out.. on his CV, this stupid fucker, has copy and pasted half out what i was writing to my client , when he requested what had been done.
He claims he was the digital marketing manager for this site. He claims he done all these changes, he claims he done so well at SEO... I couldn't believe someone just copy and paste a conversation like that and then bang it on his CV.. He seems to be trying to imitate me and my ways and how i act.. but one thing I noticed, is that he seems to be able to talk the same game.. which no doubt he heard through phone calls to his friend (who was my client).. but one thing that's letting him down, is his results. He claims all these beautiful things and adds a lot of 672% growth ... when if you look at semrush, in the period he claims to be "digital marketing manager", his growth went to nothing..
It's really pissing me off, I feel like he and my client where been sneeky fuckers and now that gut instinct feelling I had but couldn't quite put my finger on, now comes to light.. I also feel like he is an imposter. I mean the conversation with my client when he asked about growth, and what had been done etc.. his best friend just copied and pasted it onto his CV and my clients allowing him to do so..
How would you act in this situation..
One hand I'm pissed I have an imposter.. secondly, I feel my client was playing me, to help his best friend. Again, I am not happy, as the stupid fucker tried to mess my shit up because I wouldn't work with him any longer.
