Facebook Local Experiment....Your Thoughts??

Agh. OK. I ran into a bit of a snag. I read elsewhere on BHW that you can only add upto 25 friends per day. People were getting warnings and banned for doing upwards of that. So my problem is the following- for every friend i ask to add, some % will accept; of the friends i have, only some % will join my page. For example (making up numbers), let's say I nvite 25 friends, and I get 8 to become friends. Of those 8, maybe 3 will join my page. So there's a 25:3 ratio (lets say 8:1) between friend invites and eventual page joins. So if I want 1K Fans on my page, I need to invite 8,000 friends? At 25 per day, it will take me 300 days with one account!!

My questions to you are:
1. Is there any way of adding more than 25 friends w/out getting banned? Am I reading this wrong?
2. Is this a case where I need to create many accounts (ie: like 100?) in order to accelerate the friending?

Dude, instead of going through all this trouble, just molotov google and/or it server with the maps??

No, but 25 friends a day is undercut, try 100-200 day.

Add more friends via other methods

1. Email lists ( not familar with this tbh, ericsson added 3k people in a day tho)

2. Group spamming, probably untargeted, but if you target certain groups, maybe.
I spam mafia wars groups and get avg. 7 friends requests per wall post lool

I've been following this and since I'm debating getting involved in FB I was wondering in all seriousness; what is the potential for return on this? I know it's a vague question but what are we talking about here in regards to "work" you're putting in? I'm just curious how much can be made on fb with methods like this. I despise social networks and have lost out on making any money because of it but if the expectation is in the (minimum) $50/day range, I'd suck it up and get involved. But if the effort brings chump change ($5/day) I don't know if I'd bother.

I guess my question to the op would be what kind of return are you expecting and/or hoping for?

gupnup -> >and/or it server with the maps - are you referring to map spam? If so, I'd been meaning to take a look at that at some point. Regarding bombing Google, there are dynamics I could go into - namely Google Maps and the way Google seems to be handling business directory sites (in part due to the fact that there are 10x as many as there were 3 years ago) that makes SEO/google traffic alone a challenge for this kind of site.

localhero - local CPM's are pretty good and I am making a decent amount of money with 6K/uniques/day. However, I see potential within 3 months of doubling that to 12K uniques/day with FB traffic. Too early to tell if I'm on my way- but early signs are promising (avenues to friend by city, automation). Will know more in the next few weeks.

Weds Update:
1- Bought 15 more PVA's; have 20.
2- Am using FBB bot to gather ID's from city-specific Pages and have begun issuing friend invites with 5 accounts. Automation saving a good deal of time. Main thing was researching the right Pages to grab from (since some supposedly local pages like Los Angeles, have people who love LA living in NY now, etc; found some LA pages for local which have higher ratio of those who actually live in LA). Am friending 24/day, will bump up to 125/day soon.
3- Will begin inviting friends to Page next week; once I do, can report back at the ratio of those who invited join my city-specific page.

If test with 20 accounts for a city works out, will aim to duplicate in 5-10 additional cities.

Some details on how I setup the personal accounts: ratio of female to male profiles (4:1), US names. Got cute picture of girl or guy from HotOrNot.com. Added basics to profile- such as interests. Have two kinds of girls- one provocative (seems to get guys), and one attractive but more "plain" that gets guys and girls. That's all for now!

-Friending each at about 125/day (using FBB)

I also have a commenting strategy to get direct traffic to my site; have identified 100 high-activity pages on a city-by-city basis. I've outsourced the commenting. End of next week I should have numbers on Friends, Fans, and more.

WEEKEND UPDATE

OK, got 2 accounts banned. I think this was because I added friends too fast. For these two accounts, I added a few friends manually for two days. Then, I added 24 for a day. The next day I added 150 and they were banned. The 3 other accounts I did this for are still up- my guess is the difference between them might be that these had higher Friend Request accept rates (better profiles). I still have 18 accounts in total. Lesson: add slower. I think I will raise the friend count more gradually and maybe stop at 99/day. Any thoughts/advice on rate of friending, let me know.

Other note- I have now created a total of 12 Pages on Facebook for different cities. Next week- the friending will begin in earnest.

My tip to you.
Work fast, use mass non pva accounts to add/invite to your friend each day. add 700+ in one day, wait a couple of hours for accept/reject, invite them to your page. Next account.
Loop the process.
Using a bot will make it way easier.
