There have been massive amounts of group zuccening (bans) going on. Apparently, a massive group of Indonesian trolls were the one responsible for mass reporting groups to get them banned for no reason at all.

Many group owners are now switching their group settings to Secret, until this craze dies down. Unfortunately, I have just switched my group setting to private and couldnt switch it again for 28 days.

How many memebers do you have?
I have a few groups with 500k members total, didn't get any issues yet. Probably they don't touch little communities

Make it private please,
Our one group '8shit memes' with 400K+ members got banned yesterday.
 
How are they getting your groups banned? are they mass reporting it as spam?
 
When you're reporting a group as spam, I guess you have to state the reason you are doing so. Also the mods check to verify claims made by reporters.
 
Not sure how is that possible. Facebook checks your content to see if there's an actual violation of policies.
 
Just read the facebook policy and make sure you dont violate any of it

Anyone can confirm this or provide a direct link cause there’s nothing on the internet. Also as a group owner what precautions should one take, and what policies to add

"Answer: Supposedly a man from Indonesia took down some big meme pages/groups. There have also been people saying that he's on the furry side of the internet spectrum, and I guess that makes things worse because of the stigma. Whoever the guy is, he's supposedly gotten a big following (not positive of course) and will continue targeting big groups on Facebook to take down. From what I see, nobody is really aware as to why or how he is getting these groups permanently taken down, but now everyone is in a panic to hide their groups from being found in search results.

Edit: More info I found out from some friends. It seems the accuser will join a group and spam pornographic images and get them reported. So I believe if high profile stuff like this gets reported, it goes right past the group admin's regular reports and goes straight to Facebook. Then of course, Facebook shoots first and asks questions later and in turn groups are shutdown.

It also seems that the original person that did this "recruited" (or inspired) other to do this and now more obscure groups may be in trouble since it's not just one person."

Facebook algorithm is stupid, once they see lots of report being made, they ban the group automatically without even checking out the contents of the page. There's a reason why some marketers do not advise putting your eggs in one basket when doing Facebook Group to earn income.

You have definitely more than me and my circle of group owners, but they are getting banned left and right. What niche are you in? Maybe these people only target groups around our niche.

Doesn't make sense at all. I guess it's also impossible to retrieve a banned account, even though it was banned wrongly?

"Doesn't make sense" is exactly why these Indonesians are abusing the system to take down the groups. They really have too much time on their hands. Fingers crossed, nothing will happen to mine. I have just made a backup group in case my main Group got targetted.

This is not the case. Facebook deletes a group only if there is a violation. The explanation above makes sense about the guy joining and posting pornographic images and then reporting the group. Why would an admin allow posts without approval. Its plain stupid.

Oooh, if that's the case, it's on the admin then. Because I feel it will be wrong of Facebook to give bots that much power. If there is mass reporting, a moderator has to see it first and approve the ban before anything.

I will put my group in private although it only has 200k.
I already happened that facebook deleted one of my fanpage and I could not recover it:(

I guess that Facebook will be aware of this real quick and all of the victims of this will get their pages/groups back.
 
Is there anything that can be done if my group is banned from Facebook?
