Facebook Going Going Gone…

still plenty of untapped potential in facebook..

That may be true, but they are too clueless to what their users want and what they are willing to do.

Add the dislike button, as someone mentioned and change their entire advertising platform, so it goes to a website and not a fan page. That's Facebook's clever way to keep users on the website.

I think social media is going to die out completely.

As stated earlier, I think all dotcom's are nonsense, they're all overvalued. Most stocks are. I'm a commodities and bond type person when it comes to the market.

Myspace never had the name Facebook did. Facebook is a very broad website. I know many people's incomes whom depend on their local connection to people.

Facebook will die. In time.

I think the quesiton is, How low will the stock go... I might buy some if it crashes because it can only go back up :)

Personally I think Facebook has passed a tipping points in its growth/ubiquity which means it will be a dominant player for a time to come. No crystal ball here though, that is just my gut feeling. We probably have over half a billion people now with years of photos, memories, life moments on their account, and that stuff is not easy to just get up and walk away from. Less than 10% of photos of me on my Facebook are actually mine.

You guys are also mixing up the value of Facebook with the value of the IPO. The IPO is very speculative, it is trying to price something completely new and never before seen to the world, a website with a billion users, half of which use it daily, with a time on site of 400 minutes and over a trillion page views a month. We are in completely unchartered territory here and noone, most particularly these finance imbeciles who do most of the talking about it all, have any fucking clue what the future holds, and therefor what it is worth. I remember back when YouTube was a huge money suck and everyone was whinging about the same thing "It's got no monetization future, it's a dead horse, a money sink, you can't make money off people watching videos for free online". Now fucking look at it, big G is making a killing off it and it doesn't look to stop anytime soon.

Well, none of us has the exact statistics. Only a gut feeling, and some local observations. My gut feeling tells me otherwise, as I see less and less active users and in the same time I see less businesses ready to invest their time in Facebook promotion.

Something seriously wrong with facebook when they do not have the common respect and decency to remove this

The devastated mother of a four-year-old boy lost at sea has condemned internet trolls who set up a ghoulish Facebook page pretending to be her missing son.

Dylan Cecil disappeared in waters in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, after walking on to a jetty to get a closer look at the sea.
Now two days after he vanished, the child's heartbroken parents have suffered new anguish after a troll created a profile in Dylan's name with the message: 'To my mum, my daddy and sisters and sea side grandparents I love you all am in heaven waiting on you all. I'll be looking down on you.'

The youngster tumbled into treacherous waters from a slipway, with his parents, Rachel McCollum and Darren Cecil, both jumping in after him and having to be pulled out by passers-by several minutes later.

Paramedics treated the couple for water ingestion while lifeboats launched a search for the boy, who was fully clothed when he fell at 6pm on Sunday.

It emerged today that amid the heartfelt tributes to the boy from friends and family, vile pranksters have set up an online profile in Dylan's name.

i only use fb to watch babes in full bikinis... some images with revealing lines and pubic hairs of young girls.. shit.. facebook is making me a perv...

In my opinion, Facebook is going down - slowly but surely. With time its getting boring to read status updates. Although I liked reading about what happened with my former classmates and old friends, I had to disable the status updates of about 95% of my FB friends. Why? Because the wall looked like a fucking 9gag feed! Since you can't filter out specific websites, I filtered the stupid people. Seriously, some people shared like 15-20 pages from 9gag every day and not just one person, there were many of them. So I started filtering them until the wall was near empty. I never understood what was so funny about the bastardised, 100th time recycled version of something that was trendy on *chan 5 years ago.

Another hit is the lack of privacy. Who is FB, some kind of government to ask for identity verification? Also timeline. Now all your shit is visible for all eternity, at where I live now they openly ask employees to show their FB pages and if they find something they don't like, you are fired/not going to be employed.

Facebook has to go down eventually. I bet most people are still there because heir friends are there too. Once there is something better, people will move on.

I really feel bad for the people that invested their retirement money, cashed out 401k, etc to buy this stock whe it was released. There was so much false hype, and non seasoned investors got taken for a ride. Totally sucks for them. I see Facebook eventually becoming obsolete. Twitter and Instagram are more popular now....and soon those will be replaced by the new popular flavor of the month. These companies are WAY over valued.

I really don't see what's all the fuss about. The only thing that really happen, was that people got scammed on the value of the company (which was overblown and was there for everybody to see). When you have greed involved with forecasting based on brilliant marketing and bat-shit crazy expectations (in the middle of recession people will come with bags of money and kill each other to get hands on few of the stocks), the result is what it is.
Regarding user base, lets not forget that CIA's In-Q-Tel is one of the investors in Facebook, which probably pushed MS in some way to also invest into a weak company (900 Million for 5% ownership), and that all those participants probably have some cards under their sleeves that can keep people on this site for a time being (and thus keeping profits in shape).

I forgot that all it took to destroy a website with nearly half a billion active users was its stock dropping. Remember how it was stock dropping that destroyed MySpace? Oh wait, no, it was a ruined user experience competing with a better more accessible interactive competitor. There isn't one yet for Facebook. Until you find a better competitor, there is no reason to leave a loyal relationship with a product or site.

I can't remember if my $20/share by September prediction was here or another forum but so happy. It shouldn't go much lower as the cap is about right for their revenue, and as much as I hate FB the company, site, and people, in wall street terms they're still a growth stock with great earnings opportunities.

Facebook will be known as one of the biggest fails ever. It was started by a douchebag who ripped off the idea from other people. Not the best start if you're talking integrity.
Then, from all sides, the IPO is manipulated and people are led to believe that this pos company is worth 100 BILLION dollars. More smoke and mirrors.

The best part about Theil selling his fucking shares is that he filed the SEC paperwork to do it back when the IPO was issued. LMAO!!! He knew his end game from day one.
I don't blame him, he is an investor, and basically turned his half million dollar investment into almost a billion but geez, ya think he has some info or insight on how facebook
has shit chance as a business model?

I agree. Social networks have a life span i'd say, similar to online games. Eventually people just get annoyed and bored of it.

Facebook, Myspace and Twitter were pretty much the first of its kind which is why they became popular.

IMHO people are tired of social nonsense, and simple social platform like G+ or Microsoft's So.Cl doesn't have a chance.

Facebook and alike become popular because they were more than social. For example:

- LinkedIn became popular because it managed to cover the 'job seeking' niche, and it was smart enough to keep covering that - its useful, hence the popularity. Social by itself plays a minor part.

- Facebook became popular because initially it covered the 'dating' niche. However, unlike LinkedIn it lost that niche pretty fast, and became just another useless social platform.

- Google+ tried to be social+ and nothing else. Well, it never raised off the ground.

Platform that will replace Facebook has to be useful to people in some sense.

Facebook is garbage. Tumblr, pinterest, and squidoo are the shit as they allow you to earn good back links and make easy money.
Facebook can go fuck itself.

Facebook deserve to die I'm sick of them and there social nerd users who sit around all day playing them stupid cheap social games that look like they should have came out in the 90s.

Facebook may be taking the financial plunge but you can still pull great traffic off it if you know what you're doing. It will eventually fade out I'm sure, thats why I already started moving away from it.

But I love facebook for viral tools it shared with businesses and developers. That's the best part of fb.
