Facebook declares war on spammers?

Actually I got it in PDF, but I am not going to upload it until I am sure everything is handled off.
You don't have to believe me :) Let me just tell you that they send it to a private email which is also my paypal address and which I never ever use for anything else than personal stuff.
They also disabled my "real" facebook account which was linked to that email. and with that real facebook account (which I had for 2 years) I have never spammed anything with that account obviously.
You don't have to believe me but don't got around calling me a scammer when I just replied to this thread for some help and feedback from other users.

Then you've been conned.

How did you work out how much money you made from FB as opposed to elsewhere. What moderation processes did you go through to agree on this sum?

None. I made up the number from "estimates".

How do they know what the private transactions are? (i.e those made in secure servers outside FB after first using FB to find contacts, tribe ads etc)
Are they illegaly snooping your and your customers private transaction records with third party FB advertisers and affiliates?(they aren't allowed to - it's illegal)

They don't, they merely ask how much I made and to pay it back.. if they find it unreasonable then I'm sure they would have taken action with my CPA companies.

How are they getting that money back to the RIGHTFUL owners. As they are legally obliged to do. (Not Facebook T&C but INTERNATIONAL LAW, that walks all over FB terms and conditions when it comes to prescident)
What do you mean? It was their terms of service borken.. their brand damaged.. it's THEIR money

This is full of shit, and several of those posting on this site in favour of it know damn well that it is.

if you're really unconvinced then pm me and I'll send you the pdf letters back and forth.

The letters referred to on the internet are NOT about spamming. They are about account jacking and identity theft. Where is this Spamming letter?
This is a softening up exercise "look folks, when you get an e-mail it's real - just pay up right, I did"

My letter wasn't for spamming either, I made that clear. It wasn't for identity theft either... I was misusing their brand on a blackhat site

Tell you what...Feck off

DON'T SCAM BHW MEMBERS

This whole exercise has more holes in it than a swiss cheese at the wrong end of the firing range.

I've reported this thread for the mods to look at

Scritty

Like I Said.. I'll send you the letters..

It was 100% real.

Real law firm. Real lawyer talking to me. I made the check out to FACEBOOK INC. how much more REAL do you want?

At first I was unsure like you.. but they got my info from my registrar (stupid on my point) not from my cpa companies.

If I had done it more anon with anon registrar and hosting they most likely wouldn't have bothered with the cpa companies because getting my info from them would have been longer and more expensive.

Sorry to say dude, but it looks like you've been scammed.

sorry dude, but I really wasn't.

Especially when you're sending a check made out to Facebook Inc sent to

p coie in silicon valley.

What? Now I KNOW this is shit.

Debt collection is second only to tax in civil law when it comes to following the rules. You don't ever "estimate"

I don't know who you sent the money to, but it wasn't Facebook

And your spamming took Facebooks money? How?

How can you take Facebooks money? That's like saying fiddling adsense is taking Googles money.

Please explain how you managed to take any money from Facebook? Did you devalue their shares on the stockmarket? Did you rob the Facebook wage train?

Your original post was crap, and your "well I guessed" and "it was facebooks money" answers confirm this whole charade as a festering sewage of self conceit.

Please, do us all a favour and pack this crap in.

EDIT Type in Perkins Coie Facebook into the big G and guess what?,The first page has a few links regarding this company and anti spamming - and guess where those links go - That's right. This fecking forum. I poke in a few proxies (mmm proxies) to change the geo results from the engine - guess again
Nothing changes.

Very "localised" this major chain of events in the world of WEB2.0.

Localized in the whole world to this sodding thread.

For those of you reading this thread and still concerned. Allow me to point you to a few Google searches you may want to do yourself.

Robinson V Facebook
Facebook boing boing
Facebook "cease and desist" WEB2.0 order
Facebook chargeback scam

ANd finally checking facebooks own advertising and users terms and conditions. WHich if just about ANY of this utter bullshit was true, they have decided to throw out of the window themselves, as well as breach international anti-trust laws, personal financial privacy (international electronic transactions addendum 2007) laws, personal information act (or privacy of information act depending on where you come from).

They have breached client trust with advertisers and buyers, and broken more laws than you can shake a shitty stick at.

For the net gain of...

Reducing recorded Facebook account numbers - and in turn potential ad revenue and stock value.

you're an idiot. im emailing you the letter now.

I just complied with the C&D.. did i HAVE to pay them back?? probably not.. but I don't have a lawyer and didn't want a lawsuit on my hands.

I told you a million times I WASNT SPAMMING. THE C&D WASNT FOR SPAMMING.

I devalued their brand and broke their terms and services, and misused their trademark.. they demanded I reimburse them the money made.. so I did..

no I wasn't scammed.. I'm not an idiot

check your pm cus Im sick of reading your blatant ignorance.

The spammign is hardly part of it.

Debts are not estimated by major campnies against individual ANYWHERE - EVER (at least in the western world)

Business to Business can estimate, also if you have debt arbitration or adebt release order or similar then that is negotiated.

But an up front estimate of damage, major corporation v individual. Accepted on the "honour" system.

Oh please do me a fucking favour.

And again, how was any of this money actually Facebooks.
Copyright theft leads to a cease and desist order and a damages claim, then (normally) a counter offer (or sometimes a counter claim).

I got a letter, it says I misused facebook intellectual properties, They aren't going to sue, they just want to know how much I made and pay them back

Oh that's nice dear.

I'll tell them a rough figure and pop a check in the post tomorrow then shall I?

Sounds like a good idea darling, get it over with

What panet did this happen on. Where do these laws apply?
No-where that's where.
If it happened to anyone reading this thread - you are being conned. Simple as.

Please anyone reading this thread. Check for yourself.

Do NOT pay undisclosed estimated amounts to ANYONE - EVER - OF ANY NATIONALITY.

Massive corporations like Facebook do not work like this. It's illegal for starters throughout the US and Europe (and most other places, probably illegal in the Tora Bora caves)

Check the facts yourself.

I'm starting to feel sorry for the poster. Thinking he may be more of a victim, but someone somewhere is targetting BHW. Look up combinations of this on Big G, and the only place in the omniverse where this discussion is going on is on this thread in this forum.

Scritty

^^ well next time I should just hire you as my lawyer then?

Like I said I guess I could have gotten away without paying them anything.. but I didn't want to risk it.. it was a small site that didn't make much, so I complied to their C & D.

we're not talking thousands here...

sorry dude, but I really wasn't.

Especially when you're sending a check made out to Facebook Inc sent to

perkins coie in silicon valley.

Ok if you say so.
Just so you know though, anyone can download a pdf copy of a C&D from Perkins Coie that was to sent some website. Pretty easy to alter the pertainent info in it. Just google it.

yeah, and I'm assuming that they also opened an office at the exact address of perkins in santa clara? and also faked an associate's exact email?

and that they also opened a company that can cash a check made out to Facebook Inc. not to mention the perkin associate I put attn too.. i guess they hacked the perkins website to add their bio on it.

yeah I guess that's all very very possible................... or wait... maybe it actually WAS a C& D from Facebook!!

I am not a lawyer, but I'm a 42 year old ex legal consultant for HM government here in the UK. I have an LLb and a member of the ILA (till January 2013 at least).

I was an international loan risk manager and financial consultant for many ccompanies including Barclays and Deloitte.
My job was underwriting importer risks from none EU countries. I stopped doing it 18 months ago when I developed epilepsy. (grand mal - and VERY frequent)

I can tell you CATEGORICALLY that if that letter comes from Facebook, they are in breach of US law.

I can also tell you that I have never heard of a major corporation in the western world or ANYWHERE allowing those accused of copyright theft or abuse of copy protected media to estimate damages and send in a check

It simply beggars belief.

It foregos just about every axiom of basic contract law, copyright law and corporation trust legislation.

Facebook are a multi billion dollar company with a legal division the size of a small town. To think they would have pulled a stunt like this ...well I've said it before. I plain outright don't believe it, if it's true it's illegal. If it's not you've been conned.

It's not just a "little bit" illegal. It's MASSIVELY illegal. It makes using FB's copyright seem like small spuds. It breaks a ton of US and international laws. If the news got hold of your letter and it proved to be true then facebook would be that far up shit creek they would probably lose all public confidence and/or go bust (or at least have some VERY senior firings).
It's make that BP twat look like a saint.

So i'm afraid one way or the other you've been conned. If it's by facebook then get that letter to the press PRONTO. If it's by someone else than I'm sorry for you.

Scritty

there is no way that company would send a letter out written like that. have you actually been to this company's website?

they are pretty much top of the list in every category for legal consultation. they wouldn't send out a letter as if it were written by a Nigerian scammer...

@Scritty

I responded to the C&D and got another reply yesterday.
They clearly got some inside information from CPA companies. (personal info)

Exactly what I've been saying all along.

well then you're prepared to handle the C & D if you ever get one...

but I've said it a million times.. we aren't getting "conned".. if you're so sure then explain how this con works please

is facebook's law firm stepping over legal boundaries? yeah probably.. did I care? no.

that's for whoever gets the letter to decide..

but trust me.. these letters aren't "cons"... just as you keep blabbing on and on without actually saying how on earth a "con" or scammer could impersonate one of the biggest lawfirms in north america and oh, also one of the biggest companies.

so please explain oh mighty legal god, how did the conner send me emails from a perkins employee email, how did they get that "Fake" bio onto the perkins website, how did they cash that check I made out to facebook inc? how did they intercept the mail that I sent to the perkins office in santa clara that was put to attn an actual perkins employee.

if you can answer all those questions, then please continue to blabber on how I was "conned", if not, then stfu and start worrying about how anonymous you are so you don't have to deal with a letter too.

Facebook is not trustworthy. How can anyone trust facebook when they were funded by the C|A???

It's a big govt program to spy on citizens.

why not take some of that FB cash you made and put your website on the ppc ads ON fb.
their lawyers wont be able to go for you anymore since you pay to market on fb.

wow! thats something new for me, I will have to think again about my facebook campaigns.

this same shit happened to me almost 2 months ago. i simply ignored it and moved on. they wont ever get a fucking dime from me since they don't have a clue what i've made - if i even made anything.

what pisses me off is some pussy ass cpa company gave up my info like a bunch of bitches. at least im smart enough to not be 100% accurate on my information ;)

FB after me?

I doubt it. One account under my real name (which ain't the name I use here, or on any sign up anywhere on the internet - ever)

Personal use.

And if I had to close it tomorrow I wouldn't give a fuck. Facebook is a shit way to get traffic, and getting shitter by the day.
